Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

Hazy, orange-yellow color like apple juice. Very fruity and sweet aroma, including apple, grape, cherries and wheat, strongly reminiscent of cider. Strong cherry flavor which dominates swig as it passes through the mouth, but the after taste contains the malt flavors consisting of about half wheat malt and half barley malt. No hop profile whatsoever, but it might have been out of place in a brew like this. However, the fruit flavor overdominates this brew, making the swig taste like cough syrup rather than dry cider or otherwise. Wheat malt could have been upped to absorb some of this flavor, as well as perhaps some more hops for some spice.

Not a big fan of fruit beers, so maybe I’m jaded before I even started on this one. Aroma reminds one of a cherry pie, didn’t expect it at all. I don’t taste the honey at all....just overly sweet cherries and a faint hint of hops. Kind of surprised there’s a market for this. Then again, it won’t be on the shelves outside of winter. I would really like to try a New Glarus offering sometimes....compare it to this

Goes great with Zantac. Hard to get passed the first one. It’s drinkable, but hell, it’s all drinkable.

I really didn’t care for this one. I noticed a strong vanilla after taste, and I really don’t like vanilla flavor when its that strong. Other than that it does have a nice cherry flavor to it, but thats not really what I’m looking for in a beer. This doesn’t really fit in with other Sam Adams stuff that I’ve tried. Its very cherry, and very sweet, which isn’t my thing. If you’re into that though, you’d probably like this.

Smooth taste of cherries on the palate at the finish. Warm amber color, with moderate head when poured. Over all a great beer if you like cherries.

The aroma is heavily dominated by cherries. The color is nice and the beer is clear. This being a wheat they could have gone cloudy. The first thing I notice when tasting is the carbonation. The carbonation is quite high. This is followed by a cherry flavor, which seems artificial. This is finished by a nice malt note. The aftertaste is little to none. I enjoy this beer once in awhile and am particularly fond of it in the summer.

Refreshing with just enough of a cherry aftertaste, while leaving you satisfied and able to drink more
