Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

A light maple color on the pour. Large foamy, frothy head. Sweet aroma, with the cherries definately present. Light bodied ale taste, and the cherry comes through pretty strong. A nice beer. The aftertaste is a little funky. At first taste this beer seems like half winecooler half beer because of the sweet cherry taste, but it settles down a little bit as you sip.

From Bottle: The nose is all cherries. It tastes like I dissolved a Ludens cough drop in a Sam Adams. It’s not entirely unpleasant, but the cherry flavor is a little "fake." Once you get to the finish, you do get a hint of wheat. Personally, I would like to have less cherry flavor that is authentic, and more of the wheat flavor that made me buy this beer in the first place.

In a life full of terrible mistakes, drinking this beer may have been the worst mistake I’ve ever made. The first sip brought along with it the taste of factory-generated, industrial-strength cherry syrup. I can’t get past the heavy-handed chemical cherry taste. Like an alcoholic cherry coke mixed with concentrated grenadine. My female friends love it, but I’d rather have someone hit me in the head with a tire iron than one of these beers to accompany a burger.

Bottle. Cloudy amber pour, aroma definetly is present. A lot of folks don’t favor this offering from Boston Beer Company but I’ve always enjoyed it as something different. Has a very nice cherry taste but you never lose the Hefe feel.

Very nice brew by Sam. Cloudy and pleasant appearing with generous head. Tastes smooth and light; cherries present but do not dominate. Impressively smooth and very easy and pleasant to drink.

Not much of a head but was rather tasty. Some one described it as drinking a beer with a cherry cough drop. I enjoyed it more than that, but not my favorite of Sam Adams.
