Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

Pours light golden with a touch of orange with a small white frothy head. Aroma is a lot of cherry syrupy and some wheat. Kind of a grainy character along with some other citric fruitiness. Flavor starts with a big cherry sweet kick, very strong. Gains some other character later, like the wheat, some nuttiness and a bit of caramel. Finishes lightly bitter and clean. Medium body and a soft but crisp carbonation. So so, refreshing ,exactly as advertised.

hazy gold, fluffy white head, nice lace. nose of (wait for it...) CHERRIES!!!! the cherry flavor is a touch less prominant (but just a touch) than the aroma would suggest, and there ais a touch of grain here. medium bodied, sweet finish. not bad for a fruit beer, but a little too close to cough syrup for me. hey... wait a minute... that gives me a great idea... i could drink all day... >cough< >hack< my throat is soooo sore.... single bottle purchased at binny’s in orland park.

Pours a light white head, initially you can taste the wheat, followed by a slightly sour cherry aftertaste. Overall a very light tasting beer, without a watered down aftertaste. Not bad for a fruit beer but I could not drink a whole case.

Pours hazy golden with white head. Nose is full of artificial cherry flavoring (not assuming it wasn’t real cherries added). Palate is lightly sour, with big cherry flavors (not lambic levels though), and a soft malty component towards the end. Easy to drink, good for a gateway beer and women.

A: Poured with a fairly large-sized, white head that dissipated to 1/2-finger size while drinking. Body is slightly hazy with a nice orange color. S: Whewf... I was expecting cherry, obviously, but this is quite STRONG cherry. Very sweet-smelling, like cherry candy. I’m a little wary about the taste. T: However, the taste isn’t as expected. There’s cherry in there, and as a whole the beer is moderately sweet, but NOT as sweet as I had expected from the smell. Crisp, sweet finish that doesn’t become cloying in the mouth. M: Light-bodied, yet a slightly creamy texture. Average carbonation. D: Wasn’t too impressed with the aroma, but otherwise this is a fairly-enjoyable beer that would be even better on a hot day. I couldn’t drink more than one or two, as the sweetness may become too much.

bottle: pint glass: color is solid amber, no head at all. Nose is faint cherries and some grains.... the cherry smell makes me nervous: fake cherry syrup?! We’ll see... Initial taste is actually grainy, I needed to chew through it to find the cherries... and as expected, tasted artificial.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle. Appearance: Hazy orange with a small, foamy, white head. Okay head retention. Aroma: Lots of cherries followed closely by light wheat notes, a little earth, and a touch of paper. Taste: The cherry seems a bit overwhelming and artificial too. Earthy wheat notes with a little tropical fruit lurk in there. Light bitterness in the background. Okay, but not really my style. Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium-light mouthfeel and a medium, cherry laden finish. Overall: It’s okay, but too much cherry for my liking. Drink this one at your own risk.
