houseofwares (21), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 13, 2007 12oz. bottle. Pours and orange gold with minimal head. The nose is overwhelmed by cherry, but in a cough syrupy way, while a trace of malt lingers behind the dense fruit aroma. The palate is watery. The flavor begins with the sharp, somewhat sour cherry, then suddenly dissapears with barely any finish at all. Very drinkable, but not remarkable. snargles (23), wouldntyouliketoknow, Maine, USA Nov 6, 2007 Does anyone remember how this stuff used to taste when it first came out?wow! i still give sam adams a shot now and then and i’m always dissapointed, they have surely lost their way, this beer is silly-tasting,the cherry is dominating, take it away and you’ve got nothing.it tastes as if it were made for children. TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Nov 3, 2007 12 oz bottle. Almost transparent bronze in colour - quite a unique shade. Decent head recedes quickly to a thick film. Strong, sweet cherry aroma pretty much overwhelms anything else that may be there. Smells like maraschino cherry extract. The taste is sweet, syrupy, and full of cherries, although they are not as overwhelming as the aroma might suggest. There is some mild, sweetish malt in there, and a slight bitterness near the end. The body is light and fairly dry. Quite highly carbonated. Not an entirely unpleasant experience, but not one worth revisiting. skoll (123), Traverse City, Michigan, USA Nov 1, 2007 Poured this one in a tall glass, nice amber color then I burried my nose deep in the glass... nice aroma of cherries and yeast but not much more.
The cherry flavor is way to much for my taste now I have 5 more left to drink maybe I can get my wife to drink this stuff, because I have drank my last one. CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Oct 28, 2007 Wheaty, light, with an artificial cherry taste. The color was amber with a decent off-white head. The cherry flavor was overpowering, with no taste of hops or grains. Sam Adams has many better choices. Big disappointment, then again, I’m not much of a fruit beer fan. shalloWMeans (160), Independence, Kentucky, USA Oct 27, 2007 Well, i must say that this beer does smell great. The ripe, maraschino cherry aroma is definitely there and isn’t artificial smelling at all. There are also hints of wheat and yeast. The appearance is cloudly amber gold and the head pours nice and fluffy but doesn’t last long. Now... the taste is not the best and most complex of all, but I think this beer deserves a little more respect than it gets. It is what it is: a light, refreshing, cherry flavored wheat beer meant for summer drinking. There are no hidden complexities, and it may not be the best fruit beer I’ve tasted, but it’s really not that bad. It’s got a solid structure and doesn’t have a watery mouthfeel like some beers I’ve paid twice as much for. Nothing to write home about, but great everyday drinking. Ughsmash (3983), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 25, 2007 Bottled. Poured clear yellowy-orange with a short cap of white head sticking around. The aroma picked up sweet cherry juice accenting wheat and cereal at the core.. soft and quite pleasant overall. The flavor had cherry juice and stale wheat.. not much else.. left grainy, vegetal-tinted wheat and cherry juice on the short finish.. tasted like it’s seen better days. Light-bodied with decent balance on the palate.. the cherries were a bit too sweetened for my liking. Prcaus (159), New Jersey, USA Oct 24, 2007 12 oz bottle-Discount Liquors-Voorhees, NJ-Dark brown pour with slight to mid head. Aroma’s are strong of Cherries, tastes are clear hints of malts and cherry but isn’t overpowering. Pretty enjoyable, but not a beer you can really drink a lot of.
