Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

lots of rich cherry flavor, this is especially present in the initial couple sips. I would get this beer again.

Nice golden color with a small white head that leaves some decent lacing. Sweet aroma of cherries and honey. The palate is interesting. The best way I can think to describe it is "oily". Light all of the way through. The taste is not nearly as sweet as the aroma, which is a good thing. Cherries (of course), malt, and honey give way to a semi-sweet cereal taste. Finishes very smooth. Another fine brew from Sam Adams.

tastes too much like cherry candy to me, a nice amer/brown pour and a good frothy head tempt the taste buds bud after the first smell you know you are about to eat a sour cherry candy

Amber color with a weak head. The cherry taste is just too much, it just seems artificial somehow. Generally I like fruit beers, but this one is not my favorite. Maybe a higher alchohol % or something to balance it out. I like cherries and I like beer, but not this.

Wow, the name doesn’t lie, you can taste the cherry sweetness right away. More of a novelty beer, not something you’re gonna want to drink on a regular basis.

Light gold color with no head. Aroma and flavor were all cherry. Tasted like cherry coke, very artificial and unbalanced.

Blah...I just had a Rodenbach (red) last night which is the first fruit beer that I’ve had in quite some time. After that I figured I’d try the other end of the spectrum. This was subpar at best. Aroma of metal with some cherry. Pour was a medium gold with a little pinky sized white head. Taste was bitingly carbonated with some very light hops and very pronounced cherry flavor. It doesn’t overpower the beer, but there’s not much else you can taste if that makes sense.

Original rating 5/2/5/3/10. Rerated 8/11/07: Decided to give the two in the fridge the ol’ College Try. Pours clean, light, warm maple color, with a thin head that disappears at the first mouthful without lace. Very clear consistency. Light aroma with a hint of floral and cherry (duh) notes. Some hoppiness there too. A little fizzy, and sweet, with more hops and malt than I remember before, and the whisper of cherry tartness. A little sour on the finish, with more cherry taste. Not bad on a hot and humid August day. ORIGINAL COMMENTS: I too am all over the board on this beer. When it first came out I really enjoyed it, but I was young and hadn’t had a lot of "real" beer. Now I have two of these from a sampler pack that are in the fridge and I am just dreading opening them. It’s too much cherry, not enough wheat, and too fizzy -- tastes like cherry soda. And not good stuff: More like the cheap store-brand cherry soda.
