Ahhh, Sam Adams Cherry Wheat...
For a dude who loves cherries, this is the stuff....practically a dessert in itself!
The strong cherry aroma really grooves with the olfactories...and the non-sweet-yet-very-cherry taste lingers in a very good way...I could sometimes feel myself taste it the next day at work - more of a strong, good memory but still...
One thing - this stuff is only good fresh...I’ve had some Cherry Wheat that had been sitting around for many months, and had gotten really bad...same with all Sam Adams beers I’ve tried - only really good when relatively fresh - they don’t age too well at all!

I certainly see people who like cherry pie and wheat beers would enjoy this; however, for me itís a little one dimensional. Aroma is sweet cherry (like canned cherry pie filling). The taste is sweet cherry and faintly wheat with very little beer character. The palate is sweet and lingering. If it were drier or perhaps more depth in the beer qualities--it might be really exceptional. Overall, itís a fruit beer, so what do you expect?

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle - Sweet maraschino cherries and some light wheat notes. Cloudy orange gold with a rich white head. Tastes as sweet as it smells with some wheat notes in the back. This is just too sweet for my tastes.

Pours a hazy golden orange with a small off white head. Very strong aroma of cherry extract. Medicinal cherry flavor with wheat malt.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured hazy, in reddish golden color, nice foamy white head. Aroma is strong cherry and grain. Taste is also of cherries (feels a bit artificial) quite sweet and a bit sticky. Not my favorite from Samuel Adams, but nevertheless drinkable and interesting.

My favorite Sam Adams beer, I like most of them!
This a great beer, taste of cherry is very subtle, this is not a fruit flavored beer, the taste of cherry is just slight.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle at home. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow. Aroma I start cherries. Flavor is cherry cough syrup. Only not as good. Cough syrup at least helps with a cough. Very bitter. Cherries taste artificial. Yuck. Didn't like this at all.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Best before September 2014.
Appearance: The body is hazy with sediment floating around, an orange center with golden edges though itís opaque. The head is dense and creamy, white hued, with mediocre retention.
Aroma: The aroma is huge sweet/cloying artificial cherry. There are maraschino cherry hints as well as grenadine. It doesnít smell bad, but definitely way out of balance and far too pungent.
Taste: The flavor is much more balanced than the aroma, but still definitely on the cherry/sweet side. The flavor is like a cherry Dum Dum pop. Not a real thing about it. If they still used real cherries Iíd be surprised. They might throw maraschino cherries with the sweet juice in, but I imagine that most of the flavor is artificial.
Palate: Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation.
Overall: This used to be a beer that I loved. Iím not sure if itís changed or if my palate has. This is too artificial for me though to the point of not really wanting to finish it. I see the appeal, itís just not for me.

This one isnít good. It reminds me of the cherry from a cherry Coke Zero and Corn Pops. Which is odd, almost adjuncty.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
DATE REVIEWED: June 13, 2014... GLASSWARE: Lindemans flute... OCCASION: post-baseball banquet unwinding...APPEARANCE: hazy, cloudy off-yellow body; slight effervescence; nice, thick, somewhat rocky snow white head; reasonable, patterned lacing... AROMA: tart punch of cherries, yes--slightly malty, bready scents underscore the equally understated hops--but mostly, cherries... PALATE: medium-bodied, fizzy, carbonated--not as refreshing as expected, but more body too... TASTE: malt profile disrupts the cherry prominence, as does the honey which forms a funky, unsettled finish...some cardboard notes further damn the experience... OVERALLL: things were going well for this wheat--which is much better than Samís cherry lambic--until I actually tasted it: a medicinal introduction, a drag of an aftertaste, and not really much to savor in between...and isnít taste just about everything?
