Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

Pours a hazy light yellow color with a white head. Aroma was of lots of cherries, fake sugared cherries though, not sour. Flavor was much the same way too sweet. I really have a hard time beleiving they used real cherries in this and not extract.

Can you say Luden’s Cherry Cough Drops? Gotta say Sam way over did it with the cherry aroma. Very fake/cherry soda aroma. Not the worst appearing beer however. Light amber color with a nice fluffy off white head. Do I have an old bottle or does it always taste this bad? Not sure I am up for a re-rate on this one. Flavor is like a bad cherry lollipop with a kind of flat day old bread wheat finish.

Bottle. Aroma of sweet cherry syrup; kind of like cherry 7up. Flavor was a little grainy at first with fake cherry aftertaste.

Sampled at the Sam Adams Beer Lover’s choice tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 7/30/09. Cloudy orange pour with a thin off-white head. Lots of cherry in the nose with sweet malt and yeast. Wheat malt flavor with a ton of cherries. Tastes like a liquid cherry Nutri-Grain bar.

Another Sam Adams that doesn’t taste like anything. Cherry wheat? Where? Isn’t this just the same old lager?

12 oz bottle, pint glass, 48 degrees. Ah, Cherry Wheat...the Floris of Sammy's line-up; I'll give you a fair shot. Tall frothy, white head is somewhat artificial looking and sits atop a clear (filtered, WTF?!?), pale amber body. So in the aroma there's cherries and cherries and some cherries. Smells like children's cough syrup. [sip] Oh dear God...why Sammy, WHY?!? Moderately sweet flavoer goes to a moderately sweet, moderately bitter finish that clings to my mouth (like a sticky film, not like a syrup). Medium body has a water texture and a drying effect from the gobs of plastic wrap left in my mouth. The cherry flavor isn't even particulary good. I just stick to drinking the juice out of marishino cherry jars for that rush, thank you. The bottom line is: as I'm writing this I've decreased the rating several times because it's just that bad and it keeps getting worse.

i don’t know what it is about fruit beers, but the aroma always seems artificial. Poured a cloudy brownish with almost no head. Taste was a mix of wheat and sweet cherries. Wheat notes where subtle ones.
