Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

Pours ruddy orange with a thin off-white head. Aroma is big on cherries, but rather than the normal cherry beer debate of whether it is an artificial or natural cherry character, the only question here is which cough syrup it most recalls. My choice is DayQuil. The beer has that almost stinging quality to it, making it plainly difficult to drink. Avoid.

This was really cherry-soda tasting. Whether thats good or bad is up to the partaker. I thought it was pretty decent though.

Clear medium gold with a with a large tight creamy head. You can smell the cherry but it comes across as an almost cough drop aroma over a light wheat-malt. (somebody else mentioned Shirley Temple...spot on!!) Flavour is light malt with a maraschino cherry presence. Must cut out the more common wheat flavours as I don’t get that much. Some malty-wheat tones towards the finish. A bit thin at the end, and I get zero hop out of it... Not bad at all. Wouldn’t make it as a regular summer beer for me though...not enough wheat or hop.

Light color, light flavor with a little bit of medicinal cherry flavoring. Luckily the cherry isn’t overpowering. It isn’t anything special, but it isn’t terrible.

The beer smells like Ludens cherry cough drops. The palate is very sweet and cloying. Not my mug of beer. The beer has too many artificial flavors.

Bottle: Smells like cherry. Light amber in color. Big head. Taste is maraschino cherries. Light texture, easy to drink. I wouldnt drink this all the time but it is a decent beer.

You know, I kind of liked this beer. Had a bunch of these at a friends barbecue this afternoon. It serves it’s purpose: Easy drinking, light refreshing, tasty.
