Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

Poured smoothly with a light head. Thick amber color with little amount of bubbles. Not to strong of a smell of cherry, but flavor was very strong of cherry. I could not taste as much of the wheat as I expected, but the cherry was much more than I expected. The experience was very similar to the Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic. I usualy don’t like wheat beers, but this was much better than most of my wheat encounters.

You know, I kind of liked this beer. Had a bunch of these at a friends barbecue this afternoon. It serves it’s purpose: Easy drinking, light refreshing, tasty.

Very interesting taste. Tastes exaclty like cherries from traverse city but not that fakey artificial taste. Interesting brew very nice. Nice cherry scent with a lasting finish. Something fun and different.

Well, i must say that this beer does smell great. The ripe, maraschino cherry aroma is definitely there and isn’t artificial smelling at all. There are also hints of wheat and yeast. The appearance is cloudly amber gold and the head pours nice and fluffy but doesn’t last long. Now... the taste is not the best and most complex of all, but I think this beer deserves a little more respect than it gets. It is what it is: a light, refreshing, cherry flavored wheat beer meant for summer drinking. There are no hidden complexities, and it may not be the best fruit beer I’ve tasted, but it’s really not that bad. It’s got a solid structure and doesn’t have a watery mouthfeel like some beers I’ve paid twice as much for. Nothing to write home about, but great everyday drinking.

Not much of a head but was rather tasty. Some one described it as drinking a beer with a cherry cough drop. I enjoyed it more than that, but not my favorite of Sam Adams.

Have had this before, but I had an extra in the fridge and had to rate officially. Having been to the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, MI many times, I can tell you the cherry flavor in this beer is legitimate. Deep, dark red cherry nose with small hints of honey and lemon. A light bodied beer with a full, creamy cherry flavor. I am normally a hater of fruit beers, but this one is pretty good.

on tap mews tavern 7/5/07. pours golden in color with plenty of carbonation. smell is of cherries, some malts, and light hops. taste is creamy with a nice cherry flavor that i did not think was too much. flavor has a little tartness and definitely is much nicer on tap than in a bottle.
