Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

You really can taste the cherries and the wheat. A little unusual but a great beer when you want something different. Just not a beer that lends itself to drinking more than a few at a time as the cherry taste gets nauseating.

12 oz. bottle at the LI Beer Festival. Pours a cloudy amber with a foamy, almost fizzy white head. Intense aroma of cherries. Cherry flavor comes through, although not as strongly as the aroma. I don’t think I could drink a lot of this, but as something different, I enjoyed this beer.

Enjoying a bottle pour for the first time right now. It is a nice deep golden color with frothy off-white head. Cherry dominates the aroma, but pleasantly. Unexpectedly strong cherry overtone. Not so well balanced. A variety of flavor that seem to clash more than blend. Overall, feel is tinny, fruity, and much too bitter for it’s style. Yet, it does go down easily and is mostly refreshing and even satisfying.

Poured a copper body with a medium-sized white head. Huge sweet cherry nose that transpired into flavor. Finish was a pleasant wheat, bread dryness that did some justice to the overwhelming cherry. A little watered down and unbalanced, but decent.

Overall pretty good. The cherry flavor is a bit too overpowering. Not really a strong wheat, but good overall.

Very nice cherry aroma, some light hops are present as well, almost a cherry dough like flavoring. Appearance is a gold body with a medium white head. Taste is cherry and wheat, but of a medicinal quality that detracts from the overall experience. Some light caramel in the ending.

Orange/red translucent body with about an inch and a half of head and decent lacing. One-dimensional aroma, cherry. Cherry dominates flavor with some malt and yeast... If I were bigger on cherries, I’d probably like it better. My only real complaint about this beer is its lack of complexity. But it’s a tasty, medium-boddied, pleasant little beer.

The thin cream colored head on this kind of average wheat beer, belies the delicate cherry that exudes it’s presence. Wheat beer flavor with a hint of the cherry sweetness.
