3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice opaque brown body with a tan head that had little retention and even less lace. A strong malty aroma, mostly of caramel malts. A decent amount of smoke and some toffee notes. Alcohol was a mild presence in the back. Flavor had good balance between caramel malts and the smoke flavor. Alcohol was a little more prevalent than the aroma indicated. There was a subtle dark cherry type note in the finish. A full body and smooth finish.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Samuel Adams Cinder Bock has a thick, creamy, quickly-dissipating, tan head with minimal lacing, and a semi-opaque orange-brown, somewhat bubbly appearance. The aroma is of sweet, syrupy, barley malt, brown sugar, and Roman Meal brand bread. The flavor is smokey, quasi-burnt malt, syrup, brown bread, sugar, and just a shadow of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is thick and heavy, and Samuel Adams Cinder Bock finishes smooth, silky, and delicious. I think it is a most excellent beer. Try some! RJT

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep copper color with a full creamy off white head. aromas are caramel and a restrained smokiness, first taste is toffeelike with a subdued smokiness that blends well finally giving way to a fuller caramel and malt taste. This beer is a bit too sweet to balance the restrained hop profile and is the main drawback of this outstanding beer.

Strawberry red pour with a light off white head. Aroma is smokiness and sour cherry with a hinto dried fruit. Smokiness dominates the front of the flavor followed by a dried fruitiness and a bito bitter from somewhere. Smooth carbonation and medium bodied. Nice complexity. Nice

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear dark peach amber color. Slightly smoky aroma of wet burnt beechwood. not offensive but living in TX, I tend to appreciate the burnt aroma of mesquite and live oak. Tasty dark toasty malt followed by a mellow smoky note and some trailing spice. Overall, it’s OK... but not sure if I’d purchase it again.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
22oz bomber poured into a snifter. Batch #1. Pours a clear dark ruby/amber with about a finger of thick white head. Aroma is mostly smoke with some caramel, wood and dark fruits. Taste is light sweet. Caramel with smoke, wood, cherry and alcohol. Full bodied with a thick and sticky texture. Soft carbonation and a long finish. Overall, great. Would be great to pair with some BBQ burgers.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep amber color with a dense, small creamy color head. Nose has a hefty smokey smell that leans toward an ashy note than smoked meat side. Sweet malt comes in with light notes of apple, cherry and caramel malt later. Smoke flavor isn’t overpowering but is noticeably strong. Mild sweet caramel notes late. Body is modest but has enough body to hold the flavors. Pretty high carbonation on this beer. Overall a good brew.
