Hazy and golden in color, this brew is a fresh twist on the popular Hefeweizen style. Eureka and Lisbon lemons, from three growing regions in California, balance out the wheat malt character, resulting in a crisp and refreshing wheat ale with subtle lemon flavor. Cheers!

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2014 Coastal Wheat is bizarre. The lemon character is strong and strangely sweet. While the citrus notes have settled into the aroma, they are less apparent in the taste. In fact, the lemons give the beer an oddly sweet taste that reminds me of corn. This isnít a bad wheat ale, but itís highly unusual. For many, that will be off-putting.

I had this at home. Pours a hazy gold with a white head. Taste wheat and citrus. I thought this was pretty good. I would definitely drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Rated 10-24-2009 (Bottle) This beer pours a small off-white head with a short retention, cloudy body, spotty amounts of lacing, and no visible carbonation. The Aroma is wheat, hints of bananas, lemons, malt, and some spice. The Taste mimics the Aromas. The Palate is tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. In conclusion, this beer falls short for the way it taste.

Bottle shared by a friend. Clear gold in color with a medium off-white head. Aroma of malt, lemon and creamy wheat. Creamy wheat flavor with lemon character before a semi-dry and creamy finish.

Bottle pour clear yellow. Nose supposed to smell like lemon and wheat, but to me smelled like a urinal. Taste had chemically tart lemon and slight chlorine finish. Had to drain pour this one

Bottle: Pale golden color with a light haze and lots of bubbles. A finger of creamy white head. The lemon is strong in the aroma, along with a little maltiness, and lighter florals. Taste is more wheat oriented than the aroma would suggest; wheat, light grass, and just enough lemon/citrus to notice. Sessionable.

Poured from a bottle into a Samuel Adams pint glass. Ah, itís been too long since Iíve had a Sam Adams... I wound up getting a Brewmaster Variety Pack. This was included with Irish Red and Latitude 48 IPA -- the latter of which Iíve already had. Appearance: Thereís next to no head on this beer... none at all. Itís very thing and wispy. As for the lacing, thereís none of that to speak of. The color of the beer is nice... a hazy yellow color that reminds me of Mountain Dew when I put it up to the light. Smell: Very wheat-heavy, with traces of citrus in there as well. Pleasant, but nothing overpowering or too exciting. Taste: Above average, but nothing thatíll make your pupils dilate. I feel like this could well be Samuel Adamís summer beer because itís really easy to drink. Clean, wheaty, citrusy... tasty. Mouthfeel: Watery, with mild carbonation, but smooth as it foams up a bit on your tongue. Pretty average. Overall, I really like Coastal Wheat. Far from my favorite Sam Adams beer, but Iíll have no problem drinking the other thatís in the six-pack. Another good offering from S.A.

12oz bottle. Hazy yellow appearance, decent-size head. Yeasty aromas with a bit of spice. I didnít get too much of the lemon taste, but it definitely has "wheat-y" roots. Itís not bad, but Iíd rather drink a real hefeweizen, or a witbier - not this.
