Hazy and golden in color, this brew is a fresh twist on the popular Hefeweizen style. Eureka and Lisbon lemons, from three growing regions in California, balance out the wheat malt character, resulting in a crisp and refreshing wheat ale with subtle lemon flavor. Cheers!

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2012 12 oz bottle. Tastes of lemon. Light to medium bodied, creamy carbonation, nice texture A nice summer pour. Hazy and golden in color, a nice twist on the popular Hefeweizen style. I liked it more the second time around, in the winter - go figure. I will re-rate and bump it up., A very good beer to take down to the beach house. You will be glad that you did - you will get lots of good feedback and thanks from your gang.

Pours a hazy light golden color with a medium white head that left some lacing around the glass. The aroma is wheat, lemon, and citrus. The taste is very similar to the aroma but I also pick up some breadiness and sweetness. Decent beer.

Bottle...pours cloudy dark straw with a small off white head....sour wheat aroma with some artificial lemon scent, like a kids cereal...taste is similar....except the lemon is almost like a dish detergent smell.....not a good wheat. Oh and its watery too....rating from 3-2-2010

"looks like i liked this a touch more than the others so far. Nothing spectacular, but better than expected. cloudy yellow body, good head. refreshing wheat, yeast and citrus (lemon) in the aroma. the flavor is toasted malt, grain, more lemon. quite nice. one bone to pick, though...what in the bloody hell is it doing in the "winter" classics. why?! it’s a summer beer!!"

Transfer from BA review on 1-20-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – Pours a lightly hazed golden orange color with a big creamy white head. The head has a nice level of retention, slowly fading to leave a lighter level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is heavy of a grainy wheat bread and lemon aroma. Taste – Overall the flavors don’t transition too much. The taste starts out with a more grainy wheat taste with a lighter citrus flavor. The tastes start out with a slightly drier flavor up front and takes on more sweetness more toward the middle. As the taste advances further the wheat gets less grainy (smoother) in nature with more lemon flavor coming to the tongue, souring the brew ever so slightly. In the end a smooth wheat and lemon flavor are left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is average with a carbonation level that is rather low for the style of the beer. The body was quite appropriate for supporting the wheat flavor, although more carbonation would have been more fitting for the lemon flavors of the brew. Overall – An alright beer, but nothing to call home about. This is one of my lesser favorites that Sam Adams produces. Even so it is not a bad brew.

12 oz. bottle thanks to Dan, I think... or whoever left this in my fridge. Pours a dark, straw color, with a medium, off-white head. The aroma is hay, oranges, light bubblegum, lemon juice, and coriander. Citrusy sweetness, a touch of bready yeast, and a light, lemony tartness. Light body, chewy, and lightly acidic. Overall, this is a fair wheat beer. Hits most of the key points of the style, but the flavor is weak, and the mouthfeel is lacking.

Pours a hazy golden color with light white head. Citrus, wheat, and come lemon on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a wheaty sweetness to it.

bottle. Golden with small head. Wheat beer with light lemony tartness. Unexciting, but fairly refreshing.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a slightly hazy copper/yellow body that has a small white head that appears for just a minute and slowly dies to a carbonated looking layer coating the top of the beer. The lacing is spotty and leaves some rings. There isn’t any carbonation seen rising. The smell had some citrus and some bread. I definitely smell the yeast, in fact, the yeast almost comes out overpowering. The taste did not seem to be balanced as the yeast comes out overpowering again. The wheat tries to come out and play but pretty much stays in the background. A certain blandness comes out in the taste that makes me wanna question what was Boston Beer Company thinking. The palate was extremely watery and the carbonation stays where it should - basically balanced, sessionable. Overall, decent for the style, but I couldn’t get into this one.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2014 Coastal Wheat is bizarre. The lemon character is strong and strangely sweet. While the citrus notes have settled into the aroma, they are less apparent in the taste. In fact, the lemons give the beer an oddly sweet taste that reminds me of corn. This isn’t a bad wheat ale, but it’s highly unusual. For many, that will be off-putting.

I had this at home. Pours a hazy gold with a white head. Taste wheat and citrus. I thought this was pretty good. I would definitely drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
