A deep black stout with a thin dark moka head. A pleasant milk chocolate aroma with caramel and fruity notes. In mouth, light chocolate with bitter notes, musky, nice coffee in finish. Medium bodied. Sampled at Vermont Brewfest July 19 2008.

Bottle… Pitch black ale with a mid-sized, creamy, lightly tanned head. Good retention. Notes of caramel, toffee, coffee and chocolate make up the aroma. Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lightly sweet... mostly chocolaty alongside lots of coffee flavor. Finishes dry. Bottle provided by Bottoms Up in Naples, FL!

Courtesy of Sea Bass. Pours dark fizzy brown with thin quickly dissipating brown head. The aroma is mostly Folgers crystals or maybe roastier moving into burnt malts, black licorice and mild caramel in the background. The taste begins with coffee roastiness up front but feeling even and smooth. It moves toward roasted malts and some black licorice to midway. It ends dry with hints of malt and or coffee astringency.

Courtesy of Tony @ OTH. Pours black with brownish head. Aroma was filled with coffee, espresso. Taste of good roasted coffee malts, a really ncie offering by Sam Adams, hoping this one makes it on the shelves. Lots of coffee, but lacking something else to make it really stand out from the rest.

Sample B bottle. Pours a deep black with a quickly disapating khaki head. Nice roasted coffe aroma. Body looks like its going to be to light. It is. Decent coffee flavor but not enough body IMO. Good try but needs some creaminess & body

[Draft @ Sam Adams R&D Brewery] Poured a dark brown / black color with a small, tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, some chocolate, and a bit of rauch. Taste of coffee, light roasted notes, some vanilla bean, and chocolate as well. Thin mouthfeel.

Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, Minnesota as "Beer Lover’s Choice" test beer. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates toa fine film and thin off-white ring. Aroma of distinct coffee beans, roated dark malt, some flowery hops and a touch of sweet cherry. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of coffee, toasted dark malt, some fruity character and a touch of berries. Finish is slightly sweet with a nice coffee aftertaste that lingers for a moment after the finish. Of the two Beer Lover’s Choice, this would be my pick.

Black color with a thin head. Coffee aroma (duh) with roasted malt. A little fruit... I think cherry. The taste is more of a medium roasted coffee. Strong roasted barley. Simple, but very good.
