Crisp & lively, the hazy smoothness of this unfiltered White Ale is roused by the crackling of spring spices. From a hint of sweetness from orange peel & plum to the peppery bite of fresh ground coriander, the subtle blend of spices creates just the right refreshing kick to signal that spring is on its way. Cheers!

Wasn’t real sure what to make of this but it was a pretty good brew. Faint taste of citrus. It didn’t have that after taste that some ales have...very smooth finish. In fisherman’s terms, definitely a keeper!

Aroma is not very good. White raisins, orange peel, coriander and a little bit of dark fruit, but it is all dank and musty. Hazy light orange appearance with a small dense white head. Not much to look at. Tastes dull and watery. I can sense some orange and spice, but it is all muted and weak. Palate is actually decent. Overall, I hated it. I can’t drain pour it just out of principle, but I am tempted.

I was served this by mistake last year at a Red Lobster. I knew by the lighter color and sharp taste that it wasn’t what I had ordered but I actually liked it and ordered another. It has a nice citrus flavor somewhat like a Weissen beer with a peppery aftertaste that was different than anything I had ever tasted before. I have tried several of the Sam Adam’s seasonal brews and I think I like this one the best. Hope to see it come back out soon.

Bottle->shaker. Yellow with small white head. Citrus, coriander, wheat. Weak and contrived. Like me when trying this, Sam Adams must have been just checking off their list when making it.

12oz bottle - Aroma - light citrus, coriander, cloves and yeast Appearance - hazy light golden body, frothy 2-finger head, nice retention, light lacing Mouthfeel - light-medium bodied, medium carbonation, Flavor - light citrus, crackery/bready malts, spices the dominate flavor here, but a strange off flavor also present Overall - another so-so beers in Sam Adams repertoire. That are far better witbiers available to most markets, so I can’t really recommend this one.

Transfer from BA review on 1-13-14- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a super hazy orange amber color with a one finger of pure white head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a light level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is yeasty and spicy with lots of a yeast cake smell mixed with tons of coriander and some clove. Along with these yeast and spice smells are some aromas of sweeter orange and some orange peel as well as some lemon and wheat. A light pepper like smell rounds out the smell producing a rather heavily yeasty and spiced Belgian white smell. Taste – The taste begins with a huge yeasty, bready and wheaty taste with lots of spice flavors of coriander and clove right up front. The spice, while strong upfront, gets even stronger as the taste moves on to the end, with the coriander and clove being joined by some nutmeg and allspice. Some lighter citrus flavors of tangerine and orange come to the tongue quickly initially after the initial tastes, but remain on the lighter side, never really able to compete with the spice or the wheat. In the end, with the mass of spice and thicker bready and wheat flavors of the brew, one is left with a lightly citrus flavored thick and chewy spiced wheat bread flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. The thick body and lower carbonation accentuate the spice a bit too much in my opinion, making them far too dominant on the tongue with them overpowering the other flavors a bit too much. Overall – Too thick and heavily spiced. Not really something that I found all that palatable.

Added flavors take the main stage, notably orange and coriander. Tart finish is less than great but beer is refreshing nonetheless.

UPDATED: SEP 8, 2014 A fresh witbier that does what it should do. Quite refreshing but a bit thin.

Bottle pour, small white head, nose is lacking, taste is lacking, really bland beer.

"Light color and body, aroma and flavor floral and spicey. I’d have said light lavender but I’d have been wrong. Soft on the palate, lightly fruity though the traditional wit spices are pretty light."

Awesome. The coriander and orange peel flavors that they talk about on the bottle, you can actually taste them, and they should be in every beer.
