Wasn’t real sure what to make of this but it was a pretty good brew. Faint taste of citrus. It didn’t have that after taste that some ales have...very smooth finish. In fisherman’s terms, definitely a keeper!

Bottle. Granola colored (says my daughter) cloudy enough with white head and lace. First thing that strikes me is the sort of plummy hint to the aroma. They’re saying, We’re doing this slightly different, making it our own, so to speak. Problem is it’s gross. It has a really plummy aroma and plummy sour-sweetness that cloys. How can they fuck this up? Oh yeah, plums. If this tasted exactly like Hoegaarden I would buy a case of it because it’s reasonably priced and I hate A-B/Inbev. But it’s gross.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cloudy orange with a foamy head. Lots of citrus, pepper, and light honey. Sounds better than it tastes though.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: typical good witbier, with a hazy light orange and yellow body, short creamy white head, decent lacing. Aroma: good wit aroma, with coriander and citrus, but with a somehow warmer spice addition as well, and maybe some muddled dark fruit. Taste: citrus, coriander, light vanilla and banana, a bit of cracked pepper and wheat toast, then under it all a nice note of plum, just enough to warm the flavors a bit. Finish: medium length, slightly spicy and wheaty; palate was slightly more full than usual for the style. Notes: Really liked this. Started as a typical wit, although well-done enough. The subtle addition from the plums (and maybe a few more winter spices) didn’t change this up too much or make it gross, but they DID make it feel slightly a-typical and like it truly was the just-before-spring wit it professed to be. Bottle from Village Beer & Fine Wine in Rockville.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured a cloudy, golden color with a thin white head. I tasted a lot of vanilla in this beer. OK, but not the best Sam Adams I’ve had.

On tap at the beer Mecca know as Red Robins. Easy to drink but a bit gassy. Orange, banana, etc. really clean. Thankfully light on the banana. 8 bucks. This cost me eight dollars.

Draft. Surprisingly weak entry from SA. Very muted nose. Below average carbonation. Thin mouth feel. The first SA product I’ve tasted that lacked the intrinsic caramel toasted hop core that signifies SA beers and ales. Send this one back!
