Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams® Cranberry Lambic is a fruit beer that draws its flavor not just from the cranberries it is brewed with, but also from the unique fermentation character imparted by the rare wild yeast strain. The result is a flavor rich in fruitiness and reminiscent of cranberries and bananas, cloves and nutmeg. The yeast fermentation also will create a slight sourness on the sides of the palate, a signature of the original Lambic style which, with the subtle cereal note from the wheat malt, remind its drinker that, as fruity a beer as this is, it is still a beer.

Pours a light reddish brown with a slgiht head on the pour. Smell is bitter and rough. No fruit at all. Taste is very, very faint cranberry. I think it’s cranberry. Slightly off and smokey. Definitely not a lambic. Very thin in mouthfeel. This is going to be a chore to finish.

Bottle.Pours an interesting orange-pink color with a finger of white head that laces some and falls to a thin cap. Aroma is a little yeasty, but otherwise a combination of sweet and sour fruit. The taste has a combination of sweet and tart fruit - some cranberry, perhaps apricot and apple notes as well. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied. .Drinkability is okay. It is not a drain-pour beer, but you have to be ready for the tartness. The only brew from Sam that I have not liked very much.Just not my style Reviewed on: 11-09-2008 16:35:39

Poured an orange-red body which separated from a minimal white fizz head. Almost a soda-like appearance. Sour aroma of fruit and wheat. The taste begins with malted wheat, cereal and fruit juice, medium mouthfeel. Hints of coriander and orange peel. The downside: it leaves a synthetic, unpleasant aftertaste. Not a great recipe, but with a moderately high ABV it can sneak up on you.

Beer pours a red/pink color, looks like fruit juice or a darker cherry seven up pink color. Aroma has smells like a can of cranberry with some biscuit notes. Flavor has a lot of cranberry fruit sweetness, some tartness and ends with a very dry feeling. Tons of carbonation but doesn’t seem to add anything to the beer. Not much sourness to it all, as with most lambics. Not very good and reminds me more of drinking a flavored soda/pop than a beer.

Pours blood orange into a tumbler. Bright off-white head with excellent retention. Sweet and sour cranberry aromas. Heavy use of wheat causes strawberry and cranberry muffin-like flavors. A bit flat and cloying – not sour or bitter or interesting in any way. Chapeau-like.

Pours gold with a reddish tinge. Aroma is mostly malty with just a tiny tiny hint of funk. Flavor is decent but lacks lambic characteristics. Virtually zero sourness. This is a beer that doesn’t know what it is trying to be. However, NOT as bad as people have led me to believe.

12 oz bottle into shaker. Pours a Reddish pinkish light brownish color, clear, small carb bubbles, big creamy nice dirty light pink head that leaves good lace. Aroma is weird, mostly wheat with a bit of sour cranberry to it, some clove, orange peal, coriander – but a generally weird acidic almost chemically bitter sourness to it (NOT like a traditional lambic sourness). Flavor is… bad. Very confused – creamy cereal, very wheaty, sweet syrupy bitter cranberry. Actually very nice on the palate, but hard to enjoy its body with that flavor – practically full bodied, medium to light carbonation, and a smooth texture. Overall: this isn’t a lambic. Its getting tolerable the more I drink, but there is no way I could drink more than one of these things in a night. It came in the SA winter mixed 12 pack.

Fizzy reddish pink body with light fizzy white carbonation. Heavy cranberry sauce aroma, wheaty notes. Body is pretty weighty despite the appearance. Tart cranberries, slightly medicinal and metallic bite. Can’t find any maple syrup.
