rcweir (119), Massachusetts, USA Jan 7, 2008 Puts a hazy orange with thin disapating head. Sour, yeasty aroma, more like a Witbier than a Lambic. Cranberry taste comes through clearly, but not overbearing. HogcliffeLenny (162), Christchurch, Dorset, England Jan 6, 2008 12 fl oz bottle. Had this out of a 2007 Sam Adams Seasonal Selection box. Oh deary, deary me, what was that? If you like cranberries, just stick to cranberry juice – and save yourself some money. The Sam Adams Cranberry Lambric is possibly the worst beer of any sort that I have ever tried. It was way too sweet and the dominance of the cranberries was just too much. The remainder of this bottle went straight down the sink. The second bottle in the selection box was given to someone I don’t like. To be honest, the entire 2007 winter selection was disappointing for me. Dacrza (245), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Jan 4, 2008 Moderate to pale golden body in flute....perfectly foamy two-finger white head clings in varying lengths...light yeastu aroma with a hint of malt and light bread dough...the cranberry arrives with a little medicine feel to it...the malt suppresses the fruit to a degree...light-to-medium body...rather dry and acidic--effervescent, but a bit of a scrape at the throat...a friend once told me this wasn’t, by definition, a lambic, as it doesn’t use the strain or spontaneously ferment...although that may affect the taste, my experience offers a dry, bubbly subdued version of a Lindeman’s, and a trumped-up version of any proliferation of other American "fruit" beers crafted simply to increase a brewery’s selection...surprised to see the rather harsh treatment of this beer...the Kenny G of lambics? Brewbie (217), New York, USA Jan 4, 2008 12oz bottle. small head, cloudy body, tart aftertaste, little in the way of cranberry. One left in the sampler that I’ll pass on. bag (103), Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 4, 2008 From bottle (sampler gift). Very disappointing aroma... I had to try real hard to sense any cranberry. Almost a smoky aroma. White head on top of cloudy, orange. It tasted sweet & sour, but it lacked the tartness that you’d expect. I would not get again. LongShotRX (15), Barronett, Wisconsin, USA Jan 3, 2008 Bad, just plain bad. Bought a sampler pack of several styles and this one was poured down the drain. WesKBob (317), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA Jan 2, 2008 Updated: Apr 14, 2008I went in expecting the worst as I’m not a big fan of cranberry. It was better than I’d expected, but certainly not anything worth writing home about. Orangish-red color and sweet cranberry aroma. They’ve added maple syrup to the mix and that sweetness definitely tones down the tartness of the cranberry.
I agree with the poster below who said it’s not a true lambic--it’s a fruity beer for mainstream audience masquerading as a lambic. Not really much here to recommend it. thehurt01 (201), Denver, Colorado, USA Jan 2, 2008 A 12 oz bottle with a notch system for dateing the beer. The beer poured a copper red body with a white head with red hints. The smell is a bitter cranberry. The taste is nice mix of hops and cranberries but a bitter after taste. A good carbonation and lacing.
Six pack!
