Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams® Cranberry Lambic is a fruit beer that draws its flavor not just from the cranberries it is brewed with, but also from the unique fermentation character imparted by the rare wild yeast strain. The result is a flavor rich in fruitiness and reminiscent of cranberries and bananas, cloves and nutmeg. The yeast fermentation also will create a slight sourness on the sides of the palate, a signature of the original Lambic style which, with the subtle cereal note from the wheat malt, remind its drinker that, as fruity a beer as this is, it is still a beer.

Pours a nice light orangish/copper color. Very sweet smelling of cranberry and a small head. Too sweet for me.

Pours an amber/orange color with a quickly disapating head. The taste of cranberry is present from start to finish, with a little bit of banana toward the end. You really have to like cranberries to enjoy this beer. Great for a fruit beer which is usually not my first choice.

From 2007 Holiday 12’er- poured with a light copper body, a head that went away when I had my back turned, aroma of berries, malt, and a hint of yeast. Hits the mouth with a sour note, cranberries are noticeable from start to finish. Good attempt at a lambic.

12oz bottle, notched Best Before March (’08). Clear orange amber with a 1 1/2 finger creamy off-white head, good retention. Definitely some fruit in there, but I can’t say that it’d be cranberries. There is also burnt plastic, light buttery notes, and some dirty wheat that isn’t quite to the point of rotting. Flavor is buttery and fruity--seems a little more discernible as cranberries, but not quite. Paper is also present with a SA Cherry Wheat finish (plus the almost rotting wheat). This is a fairly sweet beer--I’m thankful for the fake fruity tartness to cut it. Burps burnt plastic. Medium body with moderate carbonation. More like Crapberry Lambic.

Light almost copper type body with a slighlty peach colored head. The aroma is very weak with the cranberries and burning candles. The taste is strange artificial sweetner with some hints of watered down cranberry juice. There is also a note of nutmeg along with some vomit. I noticed the vomit character in various tastings of their cherry wheat beer. Wow, this is pretty bad.

Notes: Caramel color with yellow highlights, but no head at all. Smells of possibly cranberry extracts, but more like sparkling wine. One dimensional. Sweet cranberry taste with almost Belgian-yeast characteristics that show up. Heavily carbonated with a syrupy feel throughout. Definitely different, but don’t think I could drink more than half of one...
