Homerlikebeer (19), Petaluma, California, USA Dec 14, 2006 Remember when some mom would make Kool-Aid but only add 1/4 cup of sugar (not nealy enough) and it tasted awful. You’d drink some and at first it was ok, buthen it hit you. Yeeeck! lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA Dec 14, 2006 pours a dark orange with a one finger white head. aroma is tart cranberries with a little hops and a tiny bit of maple syrup. light body with descnet lacing. flavor is tart cranberries and a little maple syrup little acidic as well. head is gone quarter of the way down. its ok but not my thing with the fruit. some carbonation almost like a little champagn feel to it on the tongue little sticky on the lips as well. little watered down aftertaste is weird for a sam adams. drunkbull19 (10), Clearwater Beach, Florida, USA Dec 14, 2006 Was pleasently surprised with this one. When you first try it, it tastes a bit odd. It grows on you. It’s got a cranberry- fruity taste, and it’s a bit tart too. Overall, It’s a pretty decent beer. It’s one of the best beers in the holiday sampler from Sam Adams. mbeem (104), New Hope, Alabama, USA Dec 13, 2006 The worst beer I’ve ever had from Sam Adams. Looked delicious but aroma hinted at a metallic cranberry aroma that kinda put me off even before I had my first sip. Oily mouthfeel with a a very unnatural fruit flavor as of cheap cranberry wine or a homebrewed wine from it’s artificially sweet, syrupy characteristics. I made it 2/3 of the way and just couldn’t stomach any more. The rest was a drain-pour. BobbyW3363 (154), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Dec 12, 2006 Poured a clear, deep brownish-red with a small white head. Weird cranberry aroma. Flavor of cranberries and not much else. Sour. Drinkable, but nothing special. Actually, I had one of these out of the bottle last night and it actually was much more pleasant that way than out of a glass. kseecs16 (865), Naperville, Illinois, USA Dec 11, 2006 Bottle. Poured an orange hued pal red with a minimal off-white head that clung to the sides of the glass, but laced little. Faintly sweet aroma with some rich clove touches and noticeably citric cranberry aroma. A sour fruity flavor, puckering, very one dimensional. A little sticky in the mouth. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA Dec 11, 2006 [12oz Bottle - Thanks BadDads]
A deep amber color with no head. This had cheery in the nose that was very subtle but fruity. This was a very tart and sweet brew all throughout. It was rich and flavorful and the cranberry was very intresting and this was a brew that needs to sit for a while to mature. I want more for a time experiment. Rynoplasty (500), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Dec 10, 2006 12 ounce bottle from a winter variety pack that I have so come to love. Pours amber with a thin head. The aroma is tart and sweet just like the taste. Although I am normally not a big fan of fruit beers, and it doesn’t taste like a lambic I still really like this beer. Although I would say it is the weakest of the winter varieties, that just tells you how good the rest are.
