Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams® Cranberry Lambic is a fruit beer that draws its flavor not just from the cranberries it is brewed with, but also from the unique fermentation character imparted by the rare wild yeast strain. The result is a flavor rich in fruitiness and reminiscent of cranberries and bananas, cloves and nutmeg. The yeast fermentation also will create a slight sourness on the sides of the palate, a signature of the original Lambic style which, with the subtle cereal note from the wheat malt, remind its drinker that, as fruity a beer as this is, it is still a beer.

12 ounce bottle from a winter variety pack that I have so come to love. Pours amber with a thin head. The aroma is tart and sweet just like the taste. Although I am normally not a big fan of fruit beers, and it doesn’t taste like a lambic I still really like this beer. Although I would say it is the weakest of the winter varieties, that just tells you how good the rest are.

A clear orange beer with a white film for head. Aroma is yeasty, artificial, with a tart syrup background. Artificial sweetener flavor. Weak and strange tartness. Yes, there’s a hint of supermarket brand cranberry juice, but this is no lambic. Gives me a bad aftertaste which is reminiscent of diet soda/juice.

A little too fruity in all avenues. Appearance gets my highest mark. I agree with some of the others, this is the weakest member of the Winter Variety Pack.

Pours a clear reddish amber. Aroma is of sweet cranberries (not very good). Flavor is sweet cranberry and a nasty sour taste. Not good at all.

I wanted to like this beer - after all, it was a cranberry beer from McMiniman’s Pubs in Oregon that turned me onto beer. The aroma is cranberry-ish. The color is a pleasant reddish amber. Those are the only plusses for me. This is probably the lightest beer by Sam Adams (IMO, not a good thing). I don’t know how to describe it’s taste without getting ugly about it. Probably the best way: I gladly give the four bottles of this that come in the Samuel Adams Holiday Collection to friends - with the disclaimer that if they take one sip and don’t like it, go ahead and pour it out because that is what I would do with it. As someone else said, I really wish Sam Adams would put something else in the Holiday Pack.

Bottle. Light reddish amber. Very strong cranberry taste. Very strong cranberry tart taste. Finish reminds me of a weiss beer.

Pours a light reddish amber with a medium white head. Aroma of cranberries that fades after awhile. Tastes nothing like a lambic, just like a run of the mill boring "beer" with cranberries added. I wish they would put something else in the holiday pack.
