Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams® Cranberry Lambic is a fruit beer that draws its flavor not just from the cranberries it is brewed with, but also from the unique fermentation character imparted by the rare wild yeast strain. The result is a flavor rich in fruitiness and reminiscent of cranberries and bananas, cloves and nutmeg. The yeast fermentation also will create a slight sourness on the sides of the palate, a signature of the original Lambic style which, with the subtle cereal note from the wheat malt, remind its drinker that, as fruity a beer as this is, it is still a beer.

From the holiday mix pack. This beer is just awful, sweet cranberry syrup flavor, nothing lambic tasting about it. Very sweet and cloying with nothing to dry it out and nothing to add any character to it.

12 oz. bottle, "Best by" April. Kind of a surprise to find a big grainy smell when I pop the cap.Poured in a shaker, it kicks up a head with a near Guinness cascade. Resolves to a thin head over a pale ale body with a cranberry twinge. Not anywhere near the sourness of a lambic Cranberries are here, but kind of mild, not tart. Further down, some fruit sourness comes through. A bit sticky, in fact this loose bottle was a little sticky. Kind of gassy, but otherwise pretty pleasant. It’s just clear that a true lambic can’t be mass produced in Sam Adams quantities.

bottle from the Costco variety pack. I drank a lot fo lambics last year, and this isn’t one. This pale pink brew tasted like a sour lager with some canberry flavor added. Really its quite drinkable, but that fact they cal it a lambic takes it down six notches.

I applaud Sam Adams for at least trying to do something different. Even though they failed miserably at this beer, I applaud them. I’m not even sure what this is supposed to be. I found no cranberry character in this beer at all. Nothing in the nose, palate. The color had some reddish pigment to it, so I guess that’s it. A vegetative nose, like boiling brocoli and cauliflower is what I picked up the most. Sweet on the palate, missing any sort of character inherant to lambics other than something like a really watery cider vinegar. It looks great in my glass though! Pretty bad stuff.

I’d like this more if I like cranberries. Certainly drinkable, but nothing that would make me get more of it.

Pours what appears to be a golden colored beer with a pinkish tint to it, nice foamy white head. Aroma is wheat and cranberry. Nice tartness to it.
