Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams® Cranberry Lambic is a fruit beer that draws its flavor not just from the cranberries it is brewed with, but also from the unique fermentation character imparted by the rare wild yeast strain. The result is a flavor rich in fruitiness and reminiscent of cranberries and bananas, cloves and nutmeg. The yeast fermentation also will create a slight sourness on the sides of the palate, a signature of the original Lambic style which, with the subtle cereal note from the wheat malt, remind its drinker that, as fruity a beer as this is, it is still a beer.

Bottle, best by 03/07. Pours reddish brown orange. Decent head. I’m not getting any cranberries, bananas, cloves or nutmeg. A wheaty brew with a syrupy palate. I’m usually disappointed with flavored beers but this one was truely awful. The first sip was offensive and forced me to move on to the other beers in this Sam Adams holiday pack. $12.99/12 bottles

Light amber with a frothy white head. Aroma is tart cranberry. Fruit flavor with a slight balancing hop finish. Typical wheat beer mouthfeel. As an American fruit beer not bad, but falls far short of classic lambics.

Samuel Adams Cranberry Lambic 12 oz bottle Best before 04/06, sauced up on 11/06 Medium pour in an English Pint Poured a clear amber, with golden highlights, with an average slightly off white mostly diminishing head with fair lacing. Smelt of strong bananas, light dough, spices and grain and faint cranberries. Taste was upfront moderate tart cranberries and sweet spicy bananas followed by a moderate sweet and sour cranberry bite accompanied by light grain and dough. Palate was medium bodied, creamy, soft and lively carbonation, with light astringency. Overall, I’m not too familiar with the lambic style, but I thought the advertised fruit was supposed to take the forefront. The cranberry taste is there, but obscured by the other tastes. Interesting blend of flavors and spices, if anything. Neither a beer nor a lambic really, just a monster of its own. The beer consensus is that it’s terrible, but the novelty of it gets to me once a year and I can say that is a flavorful and fairly well balanced freak. Some sucker is getting the other one in the Holiday pack.

Aroma of cranberries, yeast and a bit of malt. Slightly hazy golden amber color with a significant white head. Starts with sweet fruit, which passes to somewhat tart cranberry. Then some clove and banana arrives. The finish is mostly tart clove and banana. Interesting.

Pours golden with a slight pink to this. Taste is kind of malty, lots of cranberry, but not enough lambic, and pretty yucky finish. Not much to rave about. I might pour this if nobody else want it. I’m just not in the mood.
