Samuel Adamsģ Cranberry Lambic is a fruit beer that draws its flavor not just from the cranberries it is brewed with, but also from the unique fermentation character imparted by the rare wild yeast strain. The result is a flavor rich in fruitiness and reminiscent of cranberries and bananas, cloves and nutmeg. The yeast fermentation also will create a slight sourness on the sides of the palate, a signature of the original Lambic style which, with the subtle cereal note from the wheat malt, remind its drinker that, as fruity a beer as this is, it is still a beer.

WOW! Sam Adams must have re-arranged the recipe, a bit for their 2003-4 Cranberry "lambic". While not a Lambic in the true style (the yeasts of Lembeek are not present in the US, and importing wild yeast would result in its taking over the entire brewery!), It's definately a powerful sour grain wheat-barley beer with fruit sweetness. In prior years, the Cranberry Lambic fell short in flavor and palate; something was missing. However, this year, I sampled the freshly brewed 2003-4 offering at the brewery (on tap, sigh, if only it were offered this way commercially) and I was floored - the color - a cloudy light crimson, and the fuller, bolder flavor with an almost winey note and great cranberry sweet-tart taste. The bottled versions in the winter pack are consistent with the tap version. If you don't enjoy fruit beers, please, don't bother. But if you enjoy a well crafted fruit beer, seek this one out. It's delicious. There's a bit of maple to it, too. If only we could get it in six packs or kegs...

12 oz bottle served in standard pint glass (from notes). A - Pours a reddish copper; hazy with short tan head. S - grape more than cranberry? Fruity and spicy belgian-style lambic aroma. T - mix of sour, sweet and bitter, in that order. OK finish M - smooth excepting slight bite O: an unusual lambic that is not so sweet as to be delegated to dessert beer. Should pair well with some foods.

12 oz. bottle from foppa78- thanks again, Mat! So glad to finally get a hold of this gem. Pours a hazy reddish color, kind of dull, with a small white head that really just settles into a ring with a few wisps of film. Aroma of cranberry, vanilla, oak, caramel, banana, clove, and nutmeg. Kind of like a fruit pie. Flavor of cranberry, caramel, brown sugar, leather, earth, nutmeg, cardboard, and banana. Medium bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a fruity, juicy mouthfeel that dries on the finish. Not bad. Weird, but not bad at all.

The body has a hazy appearance with a deep reddish tan, rust color. On top it has a small slightly pinkish white head. The head slowly fades down to a thick ring that hangs on well and leaves some lace on the glass. The aroma hits you with tart wheat and tart cranberry along with cherry cough syrup, sweet maple syrup and a hint of yeast. The flavor has an odd mix of tangy wheat, tart cranberry, cough syrup, sweet grain, maple syrup, and just a hint of some yeast. The finish quickly goes from syrupy sweet to tangy and slightly acidic and then hangs on the tongue. The body is medium to full with a heavy slick and almost sticky texture. Carbonation is delicate and gets lost in the heavy texture.

12oz bottle 7/02 (Old Notes)-Pours reddish with a small head. Aroma of sour, cranberry, and sweetness. Taste of the same. This light bodied brew is nicely balanced and not too shabby.

This must be the worst lambic Iíve had. It doesnít really taste like it has much wild yeast in it, more like a mildly cranberry wheat beer.

It has been about 10+ years since Ive had this beer and decided to give it another try (plus my wife wanted to try it) The beer poured decently with a orangish/reddish hue that passes through some light, has a decent off white head and leaves good lacing on the glass. The beer smells decent with a nice blend of sour fruit (cranberry and plum) and belgian sugars. The taste is medicore with a mild cranberry smoothness but not much else with it. The mouthfeel is decent as the beer is well carbonated, light bodied, and leaves you with a weak watery mouth. Overall, its exactly what it is advertised as, a Cranberry Lambic. I am not a fan of people who give it a bad rating because it wasnt an IPA or stout....it is what it says it is.

The only thing true to the beer is that it has a hint of cranberry. It is not a lambic and gives the style a bad name. I tried it skeptically, and was proved that my hunch was right. Boo!

Got this in a variety box. Aroma was the best part, after that, not so much. Just not a fruit in my beer guy
