COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adamsģ Cranberry Lambic is a fruit beer that draws its flavor not just from the cranberries it is brewed with, but also from the unique fermentation character imparted by the rare wild yeast strain. The result is a flavor rich in fruitiness and reminiscent of cranberries and bananas, cloves and nutmeg. The yeast fermentation also will create a slight sourness on the sides of the palate, a signature of the original Lambic style which, with the subtle cereal note from the wheat malt, remind its drinker that, as fruity a beer as this is, it is still a beer.

Bottle poured a hazy cranberry red with a small diminishing pink head. Aromas of cranberry, wheat and a faint hint of spice. Really not much to smell here. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Not lambic like at all. Flavors of cranberry, light cookie and a hint of spice with a smooth cranberry finish. Not lambic like in any strtch of the imagination!

For an American macro attempt at a lambic it is ok. But compared to real lambics it falls short. A bit too tart. Easy to drink on Thanksgiving, but not too much otherwise. Cranberry flavor is there for sure...just an ok beer.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2003 I'm glad this is classified as a fruit beer instead of a lambic. Nothing lambic-like about it. A good looking, but very mediocre beer. Light and refreshing so it will appeal to many palates. However, BBC shouldn't be allowed to market this as a "lambic." It's like allowing a California winery to refer to its "sparkling wine" as "Champagne." Kinda pisses me off. Misleads the uneducated.

12oz bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Poured a medium amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of artificial cranberries and some wheat. Flavors of stronger wheat and weaker cranberries.

Bottle @ home, picked picked up at Wilburís in Fort Collins as a single. This isnít in the 12 mixed pack this year, so Iím not sure if they got six packs of it and split it up or what. Incredibly cloudy, pinkish brown appearance with a pinkish cream colored head. Somewhat spicy, maple, light caramel, tart mild cranberry, red fruity aroma. Slightly tart, cranberry, light apple, kind of dull toffee, caramel, maple flavor. I thought I remembered this being a lot more tart but maybe thatís just what I thought it should be. This tastes pretty dull.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of Alraomon. Thanks! Pours a clear red color with a medium head, decent head retention and good lacing. Aroma is cranberry, cotton candy, cheese and oddly, smoke. Taste is primarily cranberry with that odd meaty smokiness again. Aroma and taste are a tad bit artificial. Weird stuff.

3fourths (7799) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 21, 2003
UPDATED: DEC 13, 2003 Light orange golden color with a nice white head, with lots and lots of lacing. Smells like trail mix, a decent blend of cranberries, raisens and nuts. First taste is sweet and sour, very well balanced. Mid-drink is a little lighter than expected and enjoyed, so it loses points there. End of drink is quite dry, and slightly sour, and eventually saves this one. Not even close to a lambic, just a regular fruit beer.

Not the biggest fan of this beer. Aroma is cranberry and vinegar. Pour yeilds a off-white head with fair lacing. Peachy color. Taste is bitter and a bit strange to my palate. Goes down decently but a bit to harshly carbonated. Okay, but will not be on the lookout for this beer.

Deep orange color, with aromas of cranberry, wheat, and red wine. Goes down smooth and cranberryish, slightly dry, with some acidity. Finishes tart, with a final burst of hops. Add a point to my rating if you have this with Thanksgiving dinner. This beer rocks with turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce!

Let me start off by saying I like cranberries. Cranberry bread, cranberry muffins...but not cranberry beer. The aroma was interesting but I barely finished the bottle, and had to drink it in short doses to get through. Just not my thing I guess.
