Samuel Adams® Cream Stout is a true cream stout, balancing body and sweetness with the natural spiciness of grain and hand selected English hops. Our Brewers use generous portions of roasted chocolate and caramel malts as well as unroasted barley to impart a fullness of body, a roasty malt character and rich, creamy head. Its dark mahogany color make it almost as easy on the eyes as it is on the palate.

I once found myself buying Sam Adams Cream Stout on a whim. This is perhaps the most impressive major brewery American Beer I have experienced to date. Like Guinness, it is very thick bodied and resembles a nice cup of espresso, but it has a creamy head and a sweet, pleasant aftertase. I’d take this over regular Guinness any day...

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2008 Poured from bottle 1/08 re-rate. Def cocoa in the aroma with spice, hops, and some chicory too. Deep black with thin tan head with lacing. Roasted malt and cocoa in flavor, also hop/pine notes an slight bit of coffee and caramel in the aftertaste. I’m liking the feel of this stout. Stays consistent thru the finish. A great stout.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2004 Rerate Still a damn good stout, my palate has just matured a bit - mouthfeel not quite as full as I would like and the lactic acid gets to you after a while. Original 4.3 Impressive - Best domestic stout to date. Aroma is chocolatey and thick. Flavor has a bit of a coffee undertone to it - gets a little bit bitter near the end of the glass - but otherwise holds up well. Will get this more often - will be great for the winter.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2006 Creamy, lasting head, dark ruby-brown color. Chocolate and dark dried fruit nose. Creamy, sweet chocolate malt flavors. A bit bland, but easy drinking.

Creamy, chocolate malt, very light, you ought to think these guys could make a better stout than this, with all that money and still no perfection.a decent stout just not a great one.

Had a few bottles of this with the old man this past weekend. Nose of reasted chocolate, coffee, dried fruit and flowers. Pours a solid black with red highlights. The dense brown rocky head is fully lasting with excellent lacing. The flavor is deep and balanced starting sweet and rich with light acidity and finishing flowery and somewhat bitter. The fully soft body is chewy and finishes highly astringent. Exceptional.

Nice smokey, chocolately, coffee-like flavor. Quite sweet though. A real dessert beer. Samuel Adams makes solid, consistently enjoyable beers. I’ve yet to really be disappointed with a S Adams.
