Samuel Adams® Cream Stout is a true cream stout, balancing body and sweetness with the natural spiciness of grain and hand selected English hops. Our Brewers use generous portions of roasted chocolate and caramel malts as well as unroasted barley to impart a fullness of body, a roasty malt character and rich, creamy head. Its dark mahogany color make it almost as easy on the eyes as it is on the palate.

Bottle. A- Cocoa, coffee, roasty, smoke, woody, A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Cocoa, coffee, caramel, chocolate, roasty, watery. P- Medium body, thin texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- This seemed extremely thin on the body and watery but had a nice complex and rich flavor regardless. A little lacking but as easy as it is to drink and as good as it is, I can’t find an honest reason to complain about it too much.

12 oz bottle. Pour is black with light tan head. Smell is chocolate ice cream and coffee with a bitter roasted note. Taste is sweet and creamy with milk chocolate, bakers chocolate and a bit of coffee. Silky smooth mouthfeel. This is quite good.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a black body with a three finger tan foamy head that gently mushroom caps and falls toa finger after a good minute leaving some nice speckled spider web lacing in its wake. The smell had a combination of coffee and chocolate up front, light malts in the background. The taste was mainly sweet with bitter undertones through the previously mentioned flavors. The palate was about a light to medium, fairly sessionable, carbonation is slightly felt, chocolate aftertaste, dry finish. Overall, this is good for the style and good for me, I’ll have this again.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 6/2014. Pours crustal clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of milk chocolate, caramel, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toffee, toast, biscuit, brown bread, nuttiness, cream, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and lactose notes; with great strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, toast, biscuit, brown bread, nuttiness, cream, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Fair amount of earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, coffee, roast, toffee, toast, biscuit, nuttiness, cream, herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt, lactose, and moderate earthy hop flavor; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is an excellent cream stout! All around great robustness and complexity of dark/roasted malt and lactose flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Not my favorite beer but not bad. Has a strong coffee taste and is very dark. Would have another.

Aroma of chocolate and coffee with a dark near black pour. Tatse is smooth with notes of coffee, chocolate, toffee, and lactose. Awesome beer, I often over look sam adams but this beer demands some respect.

Pours dark, almost black, with a frothy tan head that leaves a ton of lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and sweetness. Starts a little bitter on the palate then turns smooth and creamy with a dark chocolate tinge on the tongue. Big coffee finish with a tad of sweetness. Obviously it tastes better the warmer it gets. Decent stout.

For a beer that doesn’t have much alcohol, this sweet stout has a ton of flavor and rich complexity. It starts off on a strong note with black coffee and some hops. Then, it becomes smooth and reveals its dark chocolate middle. The finish has some touches of vanilla and, of course, cream. People typically don’t associate stouts with Samuel Adams, but the brewery’s Cream Stout is easily one of the best commonly-available dark beers.
