A_R (293), Georgia, USA Nov 26, 2006 Very dark appearance. A sweet roasted flavoring. Although good, there are several stouts which I will reach for first.
Beershine (1207), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2008 Opaque dark brown with red tint, thin tan head, and some lacing. Chicory, mild coffee, and malted milk aromas. Soft and creamy, gentle mouthfeel. Mild, balanced, malty, creamy, with light mocha. Simple, on thin and watery side. dwaggs2 (63), Warrensburg, Missouri, USA Aug 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark black with a tan head. Smells like chocolate and roasted caramel. The taste is somewhat sweeter but not to bad. Taste is somewhat like coffee. Very decent beer EnnuiDivine (10), New Jersey, USA Aug 18, 2008 In the running for my all-time favorite brew. Like all stouts, meant for slow consumption and savoring rather than binge drinking. One of the sweetest beers I’ve had, and heavy without being overpowering. Necron99 (6), Clermont, Florida, USA does not count Aug 18, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown pour with tan head. Smelled like roasted malt and barley, was very nice. Taste was slighty sweet at the start and moved toward slightly bitter at the end, I thought it was balanced nicely. Leaves a nice roasted type taste in your mouth long after finishing it and goes down smooth. This was my first Samual Adams beer, and I was pleasantly surprised. A very drinkable beer. ericandersnavy (99), denton, Texas, USA Aug 16, 2008 bottle. poured almost black with a tan/brown frothy head. decent retention with some spotty lacing. aroma a had malt, chocolate. flavor had same as the nose with added coffee notes and a little bitter. seemed a bit watery for a stout, but nonetheless very good.
