tylerss20 (89), New Hampshire, USA May 5, 2008 I guess I break from the norm here. Coffee, coffee, and more coffee. That was my impression pouring it, smelling it, and drinking it. It works, but it is almost too much. Sam was going for that very roasty malt character, and succeeded. But it is overpowering. Do not recommend with anything that isn’t sweet. I had this right before stew, and it didn’t work. Drink it with cake or something.
lithy (200), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 6, 2008 Dark brown, reddish tints, thin cover of a light tan head. Coffee aromas, bitter roasted malts, sweet but more bitter roasted malt and smooth coffee flavors. borgination (78), Lee, Massachusetts, USA Oct 5, 2008 Dark brown with a creamy tanned head. Coffee malty aroma and a flavor with coffee and nuts. Not that great. Svesse (1811), Hässelby, Sweden Oct 5, 2008 (Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Black colour with creamy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of creamy chocolate and cafe latte. Malty, roasted taste with milky chocolate, cream and a smooth finish with a balanced cocoa bittreness. Smooth and velvety mouthfeel. Tasty, easy to drink and very enjoyable. tarjei (1300), Bryne, Norway Oct 5, 2008 12 fl. oz. bottle at Skallerup Klit. Abv is 4,7%. Black color with nice beige head. Aroma is sweet chocolate. Flavor is the same, and it has a bitter finish. Nice, but a bit thin. mcsquint (15), , Missouri, USA Oct 2, 2008 Poured from a 12oz bottle. Dark, almost opaque in color with creamy 2 finger head. Head dispersed to leave a nice lacing on the inside of the glass. Aromas of chocolate, milk, and coffee. Smooth taste of chocolate and coffee with a surprisingly clean finish. This would make a good session beer.
