COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing innovation is about asking "what if?". What if we gave an IPA a new identity and used some of our favorite West Coast hops, with their grapefruit, piney, & tropical fruit character, in a lager? The result is this boldly hoppy & and flavorful brew with the crisp smoothness of a lager. Cheers!

MALT VARIETIES Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend and Munich malt
HOP VARIETIES Zeus, Simcoe, Citra, Ahtanum, Cascade, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin hops

Smooth and malty, but balanced. Full enough, but not heavy. A very nice lager that the macros could sure learn from.

I too was surprised that I really enjoyed this beer. I’m not really a fan of most Sam Adams beers. However, this one is solid and has a quite interesting taste to boot. Basically, a hopped up, piney, citrusy lager. A good sessionable beer based on its 5% ABV. And it would be an excellent paring with food, since it is not as overpowering as a strong IPA style. I could down 4-5 of these pretty quikly- It makes for a nice Spring/Summer type beer.

One finger white head on top of a golden malt with a slight reddish hue. Slight hint of citrus with a bold hoppy bite. Nice, clean finish.

Orange pale, belle mousse, peu de bulle. Très bel arome de houblon, complexe et délicat. Au gout, c’est surtout malté, les flaveurs de houblons s’effacent, malgré un amertume bien présent.

Pours a light gold with a thick white head. Big tropical fruit hop nose. Smooth clean malt with a nice hop bite. Tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Have a soft spot for hoppy pilsners. Measuring this up against my staple Prima Pils, this is a nice solid beer which could have a little more profile on the nose. But, very nice and no complaints with this one.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, tiny bubbled, well retained white head, with extensive lacing, over a clear, amber (SRM 12) body.....nose is pine, grapefruit, other citrus....taste is ligth toffee/caramel, pine, citrus peel, finishing with a moderate soft bitterness....mouth feel medium, minimally sticky, carbonation adds a soft finish. Rating this as a Premium Lager using BJCP standards will lead to a very low score. It almost completely misses the style with the hop aromas and flavors so very forward, and the malt back bone being so obvious. It is technically well done. Rating this on Ratebeer where standards are looser, results in a rather highly thought of beer. BJCP 7/3/11/4/5

Shared by Pixachii. (Thanks, Miss!) Pours a clear golden color. Head fluffs up to about one inch. Smells lagery, but really dragged through the hop garden. Very fruity and perfumey, this one. Not a ton to say about the taste, really- It’s got that lagery smoothness and sweetness, but with more fruity, floral notes and bitterness to it, too. Refreshing. Hoppy. Big flavor, but still extremely drinkable. I think this did exactly what they wanted it to. I don’t mind this!
