3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: APR 24, 2013 Bottle from Spring variety pack (note, it is not Spring). Poured into pint glass, clear golden-amber color with half-finger of creamy off-white head. Aroma is citrus fruits & floral hop forward, bready with some spice notes. Taste leads with the bitter hops, balanced with light malt backbone. Light body, medium carbonation, crisp, clean with lingering bitterness on tongue. I like this lager/IPA, refreshing and very tasty. I like.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from the Casual Pint. I have been waiting for someone to make an aggressively American-hopped lager and Sam Adams has done it very well. The aroma gets me stoked right away. Lots of citrus and herb stands out with nothing to stand in its way. The palate is crisp and lighter but the flavor skimps not on hops. Lots of grassy, citrusy hoppiness highlights this beer. It works so obviously well with the lightly yeasty body. I want more of this.

Bottle. Pours light orange with white head. Smells fruity. Tastes very fruity with a lagerish finish. It’s a a nice transition beer for lager lovers to ale lovers, and vice versa. Good.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear orange pour with nice white head, aroma brought notes of biscuit, bread, some lemon, touch of some odd stale veggie and cardboard notes when cold, but as it warmed it turned into more spicy and old hops. Taste is a mix of slight spice, grain, biscuit, bread, hints of grass, touch of cardboard and old hops, finishing fairly bitter, slightly dry.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle into a pint glass
Pours a crystal clear medium copper with a one finger white head. The head hangs around in some form nearly throughout with really nice lacing.
Aroma is quite a shock as it is much more than I was expecting. Tons of tropical fruit character with orange, tangerine, mango, and some pineapple. There is a little bread trying to poke through but it is nearly all hops.
The flavor has the same punch of tropical hops up front and it is really pretty strong and juicy. Adds a real nice layer to what would otherwise be a pretty typical lager. Beneath the hops there are notes of bread and caramel that is very reminiscent of other Sam Adams lagers. One can definitely tell that this is a Sam Adams beer. Bitterness is on the mild side with a slightly creamy mouthfeel and a little bit of a sticky finish.
Overall, one of the better beers I have had from Sam Adams. I really love the hops and the crispness the lager yeast gives. This beer is highly drinkable and provides an added bonus of great flavor. Definitely one to pick up.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2/7/13 notes: bottle, part of sampler. Pours brilliantly clear and gold-orange with a pearl white head. Tangerine, lime, green peppercorn and underripe grapefruit pith on nose, very nice. Flavor is tropical hop oils that recede quickly into a biscuity and light malt middle. Finish is short, hardly bitter with a bit of champagne mustiness. Mouthfeel is dry, crisp. Gosh, I can imagine a bunch of these going down on a hot day. Pretty straightforward tropical stuff here with an earthy lager yeast, but it works just fine for what it is.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A crystal clear medium-honey colored lager. Thick off-white head that falls to a good lace. Clean hoppy spice aromas. Flavor is well balanced and hoppy and the mouthfeel. Some grapefruit, some spruce. Classic lager breadiness on the backside. Very drinkable. Might just be my new ’go to’ beer.
