COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing innovation is about asking "what if?". What if we gave an IPA a new identity and used some of our favorite West Coast hops, with their grapefruit, piney, & tropical fruit character, in a lager? The result is this boldly hoppy & and flavorful brew with the crisp smoothness of a lager. Cheers!

MALT VARIETIES Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend and Munich malt
HOP VARIETIES Zeus, Simcoe, Citra, Ahtanum, Cascade, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin hops

FROTHINGSLOSH (5140) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-orange color with a large foamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweetish caramel, pine and a bit of dish soap. The flavor was tangy sour caramel, moderate pine and a touch of perfume. Medium length pine and perfume finish. Medium body. Ok.

Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a clear golden amber with a nice white head and some lacing, aroma has a little but if citrus and hops, more bread than anything, the flavor has a nice hop front end with a crisp finish, not bad at all

Location: 12 oz bottle from Sparrow, 2/24/13

Aroma: It has a clean grassy nose, some citrus zest, and some pine hops too
Appearance: Pours a clear golden-orange color with a small head that leaves coating lace
Flavor: The taste is nice and clean, with some light sweetness and a nice, clean hop finish
Palate: This one has lots of drinkability, it is tingly, clean and soft, with a smooth, dry finish
Overall Impression: I was fairly impressed by this one. It is a quite nice beer. This one is very clean and has a nice, crisp hoppiness to it. Good idea, good execution. Quite sessionable.

As advertised, tastes like an IPA with a little Sam Adams lager mixed in. Takes a little getting used to but it's not bad. Not sure if I'd buy this regularly but if I saw it on the menu at a restaurant/bar I'd probably order one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hay color, generous head. Large hoppy bite at the start that lasts to the end, mingling with creamy fruit and spice to finish.

12 oz bottle from spring mix pack, Kroger, W. Bridge, Dublin. Light orange-copper color, medium white head dissipates into significant ring that is brought back with swirling; good lacing. Aroma pine, grapefruit, biscuit. Flavor has a sharp, piney bitterness, citrus and floral hop flavor, dry finish leaves a resiny aftertaste. Medium body, smooth but substantial carbonation. This is my last new beer rating in this 2013 Sam spring variety pack, which is far and away the best Sam Adams mixer I’ve had to date. Each of the 6 beers (possibly excepting White Lantern) is average at worse, with the maple pecan porter bordering on outstanding. Nicely done.

Part of the Samuel Adams Mix-pack - $12.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a clear, coppery body with just over an inch-high head of near white froth. Light lacing.

Smell: Restrained pale maltiness, a bit toasty, a tad biscuity. Hops in the nose lean resiny, steely, pithy, and a earthy.

Taste: Pale malts with a subtle, harmonious toastiness to it. Light sweetness. The hop blend is a bit floral, zesty, citrusy, resiny. A little grassy, even, maybe a hint of ground black pepper. Moderate bitterness. Smooth, dry, bitterish finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Soft, smooth lager meets a brighter hop character, though not so much as a Tuppers’ Hop Pocket Pils. I thought it was fine and enjoyed it a bit more than expected.

TATE (308) - Lubec, Maine, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Bottle. Pours a golden color with white head and lots of carbonation. Big floral and piney aroma. Starts off like a west coast IPA but finishes more subtle when a sweet malt flavor comes through. It gets better the further I get into it. Something different than the average IPA and a lot of flavor for 5% ABV.

Good beer. Love the IPA and Lager combination. One of my new favorites from Samuel Adams. Would love to see it all year long.

From the Spring 2013 sampler pack. A hazy orange amber brew with a bright white head. The nose has some strong hay and grapefruit. There is also a lot of the floral hops. The taste was like hoppy grapefruit with a blance of bread crust. There is a dry hay like finish. This is like a nice really hoppy, but not amped up abv, pils. Well made.
