COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing innovation is about asking "what if?". What if we gave an IPA a new identity and used some of our favorite West Coast hops, with their grapefruit, piney, & tropical fruit character, in a lager? The result is this boldly hoppy & and flavorful brew with the crisp smoothness of a lager. Cheers!

MALT VARIETIES Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend and Munich malt
HOP VARIETIES Zeus, Simcoe, Citra, Ahtanum, Cascade, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin hops

Well this certainly wasn’t that hoppy but the beer itself was okay. Light and a bit crisp. It was good but not nearly as good as it seems to be rated.

12oz bottle&on tap 2/6-foamy offwhite-gold. A-lots of citrus zest/some pine. T-crisp citrus-lemon/orange zest/pine hops with some bite, 2nd lt malt.

12 oz. bottle- Pours light clear copper with a one finger white creamy head. Aroma is very nice, West Coast hops, grapefruit, resinous pine, the malt is there, but in check. The taste is hoppy, grapefruit, you do taste the malt more in the taste, I want to say caramel malt, but that sounds bad, it’s not strong enough for that. The body is medium, carbonation is medium high. I liked it, the aroma I was massively impressed with, the rest was just decent.

12oz bottle, best by July 2013, part of the Spring Thaw Variety Pack--$15.99ish at Vons. Clear golden amber, one finger off-white creamy head, good retention. Citrus herbal hops dominate, a touch grassy, with some lightly toasty biscuit malt and lager yeast backing. Flavor follows suit, but seems to pull back a bit on the hops and allows the malt to come through. Still not all that sweet, though, and has the typical metallic Sam Adams lager yeast characteristics. Semi-dry, bitterness peaked at a 3. Moderate carbonation with a smooth light to medium body. Not too bad, but not my favorite IPL by a longshot--solid enough offering from such a big brewery, though.

Rarely do you put 'refreshing' next to an IPA, but this IPLager gets that done. Still plenty of hops and a lingering dryness, this is a beautifully balanced and smooth brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear amber pour with a 3+finger, creamy, off white head, that has good retention. Citrus, toast, pine, mineral notes and a little doughy yeast in the aroma. Flavor is nicely cirusy up front with a little lemon, then some grass, floral and very light pine hops, bread and mineral crispness to the finish. Light body with a light to moderate, blanketing carbonation and off dry feel. Pretty nice, the yeast comes off a little strong and hampers the crisp and refreshing nature a bit, but still a tasty summer sessioner. Hopefully it is actually still around for summer, it would make a great lawnmower beer.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Medium amber brew with three fingers of white head that stays around for a while. Great hoppy aroma of citrus, pine, grapefruit. Taste is very light malt at the start and hop-dominated after that. Hops are well balanced and do not overwhelm the brew. This is a real winner.

Poured up a very light amber with small white head that did hang on about half way through drinking. Pine with some floral aromas made this seem interesting. Taste was a strong grapefruit flavor with hints at that pine aroma. Other than that it lacks anything else. Overall a typical lager with some great hop character.

A bright floral beginning with a surprising balanced bitterness in the body. A smooth dropoff for a finish. This could be my next session go-to beer.

Clear golden amber pour with fair offwhite head. Nose is citrus grapefruit and hop character. Very nice actually. Flavor is like a more floral/citrusy buttery version of boston lager. In fact, sub out the caramel for butter, lower the carbonation a little bit, take away a little of the bite, and this would probably pass for a boston lager. A little slick on the tongue. This is pretty damn good though. I think I might actually prefer this.
