COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing innovation is about asking "what if?". What if we gave an IPA a new identity and used some of our favorite West Coast hops, with their grapefruit, piney, & tropical fruit character, in a lager? The result is this boldly hoppy & and flavorful brew with the crisp smoothness of a lager. Cheers!

MALT VARIETIES Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend and Munich malt
HOP VARIETIES Zeus, Simcoe, Citra, Ahtanum, Cascade, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin hops

This was fantastic. Hazy golden beer with a white head. Strong aromas of hops and tropical fruit. Tastes of floral/pine hops, some honey, sweet malts, and grapefruit/assorted citrus zest. Finish is bittersweet and hoppy. Outstanding malt balance to the hops. Fruity, hoppy, and refreshing. One of the best beers Iíve had from Sam Adamís.

Reviewed 2/15/13. 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass. A: Pours a crystal clear copper-amber color. The head is a one finger offwhite shade featuring typical texturing given the style. Thereís a nice amount of lacing left on the glass. S: Quite hoppy, yet in a subdued manner. The one hop strain I notice predominantly is the mango-like, slightly catty nature of Simcoe - but this also has the grapefruit peel of Cascade and the earth/lemon of Centennial. No real maltiness to be found, but who cares? Iím quite intrigued. T: Just like the aroma, this has a noticeable influence from the hops. At first, the melon and mango flavors from Simcoe hops comes through. After a couple of sips, flavors of lemon, earth, pine, and grapefruit peel make an appearance. Slightly sweet maltiness finishes off the flavor profile. I also notice a bit of diacetyl, as well. Itís definitely a showcase for the hops, and while they donít come across particularly boldly, they never come across as overpowering. M: A bit heavy in texture, enough to quash drinkability somewhat. If I have any problem with this brew, itís that it isnít as easy to down as it could be. After a while, the malts win out in terms of palate feel, making it a touch syrupy; on the other hand, there is some good dryness in the back of the mouth. Carbonation is about right for a lager. O: If I rated to style, this would be around a 4.5 or so - I donít know if thereís a better pale lager out there (and obviously I havenít had anything from Jackís Abby, either). In terms of personal preference, it does a good job of showing off the hop profile, but itís niggles keep it from reaching greatness.

Aroma is very hoppy. Lots of citrus. Flavor is very clean being a lager. Iím enjoying the hoppy lagers! Flavor is bitter and reflects the citrusy hopping. The palate is clean and finishes dry. Very good beer from the spring thaw pack.

Deep gold, clear, off white head. Aroma of piney, citrusy hops with a little caramel. Flavor: citrus-apricot hop flavor with a little vegetal/herbal note, grainy malt.

Clear golden color with some orange hues and a small, bubbly white head. Aroma is herbal, some tropical fruits and slight citrus. Tasty is hoppy in line with the aroma, herbal with some citrus and grapefruit, firm but mild with a salty finish and short after taste. Medium to light palate, easy driking, refreshing and tasty at the same time. Kind of a hopped-up Boston Lager. Wish they could do something like this @ 4.2 - 4.4% abv

Bright clear orange pour big head. Aroma of pine, passionfruit and citrus hops. Sweet at first then the bitterness drops in. Tastes herbal, floral, and resinous. Some wheaty flavor. Has a heavy pilsnery mouthfeel. Full of flavor. I personally prefer ales though so Iíd rather just have an ipa. Itíll be a great beer for somebody else though.

Fruity aroma, hop, grass, caramel and malt. White lacing galore. Clear yellow-gold color. Thin body and fairly dry. Actually, it is quite dry. Not boozy at all. Strong lager? W

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured a clear amber with little to none off white head that went away very quickly. Aroma of grain and some hops and a bit of malts. Flavor is mostly bitter hops (but not overwhelming), citrus and grassy flavors balanced with a bit of sweetness from malts. Drinkable.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle with a best by date of July, 2014. Aroma has a light grainy and bread character with some light citrus and tropical fruit notes. Hints of pine resin and grassy hop notes. Pours a slightly cloudy, golden orange with a pale copper character and a moderately sized, fluffy white head with nice retention. Moderately high lacing with faint legs. Flavor is light and crisp with a light grain and bread character. Medium light bitterness with medium light hop character. Hop character is fairly fruity and citrus forward with some stone fruit character. Light pine resin notes. Mouthfeel is medium light to light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice IPL but it could be a bit lighter and crisper with a more hop forward and brighter presence. Otherwise, nicely balanced and easy drinking.
