COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing innovation is about asking "what if?". What if we gave an IPA a new identity and used some of our favorite West Coast hops, with their grapefruit, piney, & tropical fruit character, in a lager? The result is this boldly hoppy & and flavorful brew with the crisp smoothness of a lager. Cheers!

MALT VARIETIES Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend and Munich malt
HOP VARIETIES Zeus, Simcoe, Citra, Ahtanum, Cascade, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin hops

Pours a clear light gold, with minimal white head. Aroma of grassy hops. Taste is smooth and well balanced. Lots of hops, but still a lager underneath. A great summer beer. I liked this one a lot, thumbs up!

Best by August 2013 ... poured into a Samuel Adams "Perfect Pint" glass. Appearance: Looks like a beer-beer... a lot like Samuel Adams Boston Lager. A nice, crystal clear amber color. Three fingers or so of a nice, creamy-ish white head. Lacingís awesome on this one. Good looking. Smell: For some reason, a lot of metallic aromas... though this could be because I rinsed my glass out just before using. Behind that is plenty of hops. Grapefruit, and a non-descript tropical note. As the label says, a lot of West coast aromas in this one. Well done. Taste/feel: Itís a Boston Lager in IPA form, I think... and itís fantastic. Itís a lot like an IPA on the front, but the finish is sweet, with that classic biscuit/cracker aftertaste that I get from Boston Ale/Lager, and now this. The mouthfeel is of about medium carbonation with a slight creamy feel. Truly one of the, if not THEE, best Samuel Adams beers that Iíve had. I hope this is a year round offering thatís available in six-packs. $8.49 for a six pack? Sign me up.

A clear amber beer with a small white head. The aroma is nutty malt and light citrusy hops. The flavor is likewise balanced, making for an interesting and easy to drink brew.

Clear Golden Color with moderate carbonation. Smell is very piney hop and citrus forward. Flavor is very piney hop heavy, along with strong citrus and yeast note; Aftertaste is quite resiny. Body is light along with the carbonation. Good beer overall

UPDATED: APR 22, 2014 Bottle pour. Amber lager color in glass. Solid, soapy lacing. Nose is grassy hops, dough, and some funk. Blindfolded, I?d say an IPA. Taste is much more pils, but on the bitter end. Good malt profile too. Overall, a decent attempt.

Drank from the bottle. A hoppy lager? Who woulda thunk it? Mild hoppiness and a little citrus; smooth finish. A lager that hopheads can enjoy.

Pours the color of gold. No orange. No hues. Lager bubbles are making their way to the top in perfect clarity. There is a fat head of creamy bubbles that fell off unnoticed because I drank it so fast. Left wet and patchy lacing. carbonation refreshed upon each tilt of the glass.

This had a big bright nose. Everything you love about hops. Pine, citrus and floral. A bit of orange peel and a light bread. Tucked just under all that is a light yeasty lager scent. Spruce, pine needles. Lightly sweet malt.

Taste is exceptional. It has a tremendous hop forward character that is tempered and smooth. The hops are herbal and succulent with out a terrible bitter. They are not even really that tart and thatís how it is one step toned down from an IPA. There is a bit of grapefruit on the palate though but a light tangerine takes hold and a bit of orange blossom honey. Bread is light and the lagering has done this beer a great favor. It has made it smooth and drinkable in the best way. The pine is intense but not sharp. A touch of resin to make the aftertaste last and plenty of earth. Itís crisp and bold. There is just a bit of bitter in the dry finish.

Leave it to sam adams to mix these two beer styles so perfectly. This beer has tremendous flavor but is not the least bit harsh. it doesnít numb you with bitterness. It doesnít defeat you with a high abv. The mouthfeel is light to medium and the carbonation is perfect with a little bite to it. It is gentle enough and the lager character does indeed make it easy drinking.

Clear golden body with a thin white head. Nice, inviting aroma of pine, grapefruit, and tropical fruit. Smooth, somewhat heavy mouthfeel. The flavor us unique. Starts relatively sweet, then the spicy hops kick in with grapefruit and a touch of pine evident. Finally it finishes sweet with a light tropical fruit punch. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
