COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing innovation is about asking "what if?". What if we gave an IPA a new identity and used some of our favorite West Coast hops, with their grapefruit, piney, & tropical fruit character, in a lager? The result is this boldly hoppy & and flavorful brew with the crisp smoothness of a lager. Cheers!

MALT VARIETIES Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend and Munich malt
HOP VARIETIES Zeus, Simcoe, Citra, Ahtanum, Cascade, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin hops

Bottle: pours a light copper color with a big fluffy off white head. Aromas of caramel, pine and resin. Flavor is very nice... resin and pine, but some sweet caramel too. It’s all mellow and super drinkable, though. Awesome stuff. Definitely pushes the innovation factor and gets a few extra points there. Such a simple concept, but done so very well.

12oz Bottle. The pour was a crystal clear light orange with a large (2-3 finger) white fluffy head that diminished slowly, down to a few large puddles and large collar with good sticky lacing. The aroma was of a grain malt, floral and pine hops and a moldy yeast with notes of caramel, citrus (grapefruit and orange peel) and a touch of tropical fruit. The taste was nice and hoppy right off the bat with a slight floral taste and a touch of citrus and caramel early on, and then had a light bitter citrus peel presence take over along with a bold pine hop presence and had a light fruity ending. The flavor hung around for an average duration after the swallow, with a decent hoppy fruity taste left to settle on the taste buds. Mouthfeel was light in body and dry in texture with a lively carbonation. Overall this was an exceptionally smooth and easy to drink brew, with a nice hoppy beginning and a mild fruitiness at the end... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

Purchased as part of the Samuel Adams 2013 "Spring Thaw" variety twelve pack - This is an interesting, full bodied amber lager, with a citruslike hoppiness and a serious malty body! I like it!

12oz bottle served in a Sam Adams perfect pint Best by July 2013 A - Pours a clear shiny copper/brass color with 1 fingers of off-white head. S - Big juicy citrus aroma fills the glass, some spicy onion, bready T - Matches the nose with juicy citrus hops, tangerine, orange, and ruby grapefruit. Dried strawberries, pineapple, in a lager? Grassy/pine hops mix in creating some stickiness. Caramel malts add a very balanced sweetness and round out the hops. Firm bitterness with a long dry finish. M - Medium body, solid carbonation smooth feel, dry and clean on the finish. This is a double agent! This lager is bursting with fruit flavor. This could easily pass as an ale. Tons of flavor packed into a sessionable 5.00 ABV. This is one of the most impressive beers I’ve had this year. Hats off to Jim Koch for this awesome beer. Serving type: bottle 02-18-2013

This was fantastic. Hazy golden beer with a white head. Strong aromas of hops and tropical fruit. Tastes of floral/pine hops, some honey, sweet malts, and grapefruit/assorted citrus zest. Finish is bittersweet and hoppy. Outstanding malt balance to the hops. Fruity, hoppy, and refreshing. One of the best beers I’ve had from Sam Adam’s.

Deep gold, clear, off white head. Aroma of piney, citrusy hops with a little caramel. Flavor: citrus-apricot hop flavor with a little vegetal/herbal note, grainy malt.

Bottle. Pours copper with a medium white head. Pine and herb hop aroma with a hint of spice. Pine and citrus hop flavor with some pale malts. A hint of spice in the finish along with some moderate hop bitterness. Much more like a pale ale than a pale lager. A little bland but very drinkable for a pale lager.

Dark golden color with a fairly decent white head. Aroma is like an earthy pale lager with some hops. Taste of hay, hops and grapefruit. A bit dry and bitter.

12 oz bottle from the Spring Thaw sampler case. Very pleasing with a freshness all about. No bite from hop excess or associated bitterness. A vague creaminess throughout.
