COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing innovation is about asking "what if?". What if we gave an IPA a new identity and used some of our favorite West Coast hops, with their grapefruit, piney, & tropical fruit character, in a lager? The result is this boldly hoppy & and flavorful brew with the crisp smoothness of a lager. Cheers!

MALT VARIETIES Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend and Munich malt
HOP VARIETIES Zeus, Simcoe, Citra, Ahtanum, Cascade, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin hops

This beer was pretty interesting. You could definitely taste both sides of the IPA and the lager. Personally, I think it would have been better as a straight IPA, but C’est la vie.

Pours golden, pale, and clear with minimal white head that quickly disappears. Smells faintly of tropical fruit and grapefruit. Taste is lightly hopped with the fruitiness of the Cascade hops being prominent. Finishes smooth, not bitter, and crisp. An interesting brew, ends up being more like a complex pale lager.

Clear gold with a generous bright white head. Grassy hops aromas supported by a solid bready malt base. Herbal and earthy grass hops taste followed quickly by doughy bread, with nice peppery highlights. Light body, lively carbonation, pillowy soft mouthfeel and a crisp clean finish.

Strong, resinous/gasoline hop aroma. Bad label, standard longneck. Bright citrine colored, clear, modest white head. Sweet, well-brewed hop flavor, latent kat whizz. Medium heavy mouthfeel, lingering bitterness. Generally OK, but the aroma was flawed to me. Publix, part of the Spring Thaw mixer.

12 ounce bottle pours a shade of amber, aromas of light hops, citrus, and some pepper. Flavors are the same, light citrus flavor with a light bitter aftertaste, decent beer overall.

Westmeister (1654) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - FEB 4, 2013
Bottle. Pours clear copper with an off-white head. The aroma has earthy and pine hops, with caramel malt and clean lager yeastiness. The flavor starts light spicy hops and some caramel and crackers. A bit overly sweet for me, however. Still a very nice hoppy lager.

Bottle. Pours light orange with white head. Smells fruity. Tastes very fruity with a lagerish finish. It’s a a nice transition beer for lager lovers to ale lovers, and vice versa. Good.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Bottle from Lizardville Rocky River. Clear light orange pour with a big foamy white head. Citrus and floral nose with a bit of lager yeast. Taste brings some pine into the mix - easy drinking, flavorful, and a crisp clean finish. Really well done.

Good beer. Love the IPA and Lager combination. One of my new favorites from Samuel Adams. Would love to see it all year long.
