Aug 10, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, dark mahogany-hued body with a thin cap of white bubbles.
Smell: Toasty caramel nose with a rich, vinous vein of fruitiness and a slight solventy tone.
Taste: Very sweet, very strong taste of toasted dark caramel with a distinct plum and golden raisin fruitiness throughout and a hint of sweetened dough. Tiny bit of spicy hops and imparted bitterness, but for the most part, this one’s all sweetness. Luscious, syrupy finish with a pinch from the warming alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-low carbonation. Definite stickiness to the mouthfeel.
Drinkability: A slow sipper suited for ice-cold winter nights, it’s a rather well-made, respectable doppelbock that can easily be found for a good price.

Aug 10, 2008 Bottle. Dark reddish brown pour with an average head. Sweet brown sugar and caramel makes this brew a nice desert. Malty bitter finish leaves you wanting more.

Aug 3, 2008 Bottle@Beers of the World Live (NEC), 2008. Amber beer with a good head. The aroma is malty and rich, and the flavour is rich, vinous and malty. Overall a nice vinous and rich beer.

Jul 26, 2008 Reddish color with an average head that disappears. Carmel and brown sugar like aromas. Very malty and thick almost syrup like. Strong in alcohol. Begins to get better at the end.
