IlanMan (472), Winona, Minnesota, USA Apr 10, 2008 Body was indeed full. This brew had a lot of caramel and toffee notes along with a big malt bill. Alcohol punched me in face at first but seemed to mellow out a little as it warmed up. Overall this was a nice brew but could use less alcoholic kick (never thought I’d say that). Might buy again, not sure yet.
Jblauvs (113), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jul 15, 2008 hazy redish brown pour. light dissipating head. light, sweet malt aroma with molasses. Very sweet flavor immediately, a bit of caramel malt with a finish of molasses and alcohol. not overly complex, but decent, a good offering from Sam Adams kidmartinek (656), austin, Texas, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pours a whole glass of foam, quickly settles to half a glass. Medium brown/tan cloudy appearance with a very dense foamy and frothy head. The aroma is dense, flavorful malt, and molassas, and grains and grasses. The flavor is intensely malty, sweet, grassy, almost chocolate, with a tinge of hops. This is your desert beer. Wow, can you handle more than one? If you are a horse, then this is your trash sweetfeed. carruthm (316), USA Jul 2, 2008 light brown color with a typical small head found common in BBC brews. Good nose of spices and malt and a flavor to match. CaryTheDude (114), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Jun 30, 2008 Smells sweet, mouthfeel is awesome with a sweet flavor but surprisingly no sickeningly sweet finish. Very dry. Dug it. Oftentimes bocks make me want to retch when they’re too sweet in the finish, but this one’s got it right. Still don’t have complete faith back in Sam Adams since I tried their summer pack. leaparsons (3802), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Jun 27, 2008 Bottle. Beers of the World Live, NEC. Golden brown with a small head. Aromas are sweet toffee and caramel malts with raisins and spices. Flavours are caramel and toffee malts with sticky fruity raisins. Rich and with evident alcohol. Dry on the finish.
