COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dunkelweizen translates into "dark wheat" and the beer is a darker version of the Bavarian wheat beers of the 15th century. Dark amber brown in color, this unfiltered ale is brewed with traditional Bavarian yeast, which imparts a wide spectrum of flavors and aromas from spicy clove and nutmeg to tropical fruit and banana. The result is a beer that is complex and flavorful, medium-bodied with a crisp finish.

Pours a brownish color with a very thin tan head. Aroma is wheat and some fruity yeast a bit of spice. Flavor is quite fruity with some banana hints, a bit of clove, just a fuller tasting wheat, not real different from any other wheat.

Not to knock this particular beer but I don’t think I like this style. Got it in a sampler pack and only drank 1 of 2. Had a sour taste.

Fresh bottle to a pint glass. Pours a hazy amber with a thin off white head and ok lacing. Aroma is wheat, brown sugar, banana, clove, and orange. Taste is banana, wheat, lemon peel, clove, and nutmeg. The finish is banana and clove. Mouthfeel is thin and drinkable. I couldn’t have more than 2 however, the banana is almost overpowering.

Deep copper color. Aroma is over-ripe bananas and oatmeal. Taste is shockingly bad; this is second tasting, could not even finish either time. Perhaps this style eludes me, but I am shocked at the poor taste of this offering from SA.
