Dunkelweizen translates into "dark wheat" and the beer is a darker version of the Bavarian wheat beers of the 15th century. Dark amber brown in color, this unfiltered ale is brewed with traditional Bavarian yeast, which imparts a wide spectrum of flavors and aromas from spicy clove and nutmeg to tropical fruit and banana. The result is a beer that is complex and flavorful, medium-bodied with a crisp finish.

Clear bubbly orange-brown, tiny white head. Aroma a not entirely pleasant estery smell with some wheat and spices. Medium light body with carbonation. Flavor sweet and fruity with background of wheat and banana and cloves or something. Ok I think but I have some bias as not a huge fan of this style.

This is a good representation of the style. Not my favorite style but good nonetheless. Had it in a fall variety pack. I wouldn’t buy this beer solo, but worth a try if you like dunkels.

A very typical Dunkelweizen. Smooth, moderately sweet, rich and full-bodied, fruity (mildly-banana-like) aroma, very faintly suggesting spice. Solidly enjoyable, if somewhat boring. Thankfully, not too sour! Good and I would gladly drink it again.

Bottle into a goblet. Aroma is that of sweet rolled fruit and light malt. Pour is a dark amber with a very fine head. Taste is a rounded malt fruitful smoothed taste. Finish is fruitful smoothness. A good ale, I would buy this one again.

Light brown pour, very thin head. Nice aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg along with spicy yeast. Flavor is very "soft" with cinnamon, banana, and more spice. However.... the finish is an unexpected combo of sour apple, then leaves a sugary coating on the tongue at the very end. Moutfeel is extremely watery, which combined with the sugary finish makes this disappointing. Started strong, but ends poorly.

Easy drinking dark amber in color brew. Light malts with some nice Dunkel characters. I can drink this all day.

Part of the Autumn sampler pack. Yellowish brown, cloudy body with a medium white head. Aroma is spicy with a hint of clove. Taste is fruity, namely banana and orange peel with a touch of ginger. The finish is clean although the banana sticks around a little.

Good pour, solid white head, well carbonated. Taste of clove, orange and banana. Also tastes like a cheap imitation of weihenstephaner. If u want a good bavarian wheat beer get it from worlds oldest brewery. Similar in cost, yet weihenstephaner is superior in taste. Disapointed with many of Sam Adams commercial offerings, this wasn’t an exception.

Bottle. Poured a clear brown color with a frothy white top and nice lacing. Banana, clove, caramel malts, and dough. Decent carbonation, medium body, kinda watery on the finish. Easy to drink
