COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dunkelweizen translates into "dark wheat" and the beer is a darker version of the Bavarian wheat beers of the 15th century. Dark amber brown in color, this unfiltered ale is brewed with traditional Bavarian yeast, which imparts a wide spectrum of flavors and aromas from spicy clove and nutmeg to tropical fruit and banana. The result is a beer that is complex and flavorful, medium-bodied with a crisp finish.

11/6/12. 12oz bottle from Publix. Barely hazy deep amber pour with a small khaki head that cuts in half and sticks in a small ring and laces in spotty sheets. Big banana and fruitiness in the aroma with touches of cream, caramel, and spice. The flavor shows a ton of banana, bubblegum, and fruit again with hints of spice, caramel, and metal. Not bad, actually.

draft at Coles, Buffalo NY. Pours a somewhat burnt orange color. Like when an orange is starting to go bad color. Cloves dominate aroma with fruity yeastiness. Decent dunkle flavor but maybe needs a tad more in both aroma & flavor

single bottle from Kroger, mix-pick six pack (this, pyramid okto, hopadillo, + 3 rodeo clowns) .. . pours a rather lifeless mop water brown .. low foam .. . odd bitterness .. mild esters .. light chocolate banana and soiled bark .. . wow, way to dumbed down and a bit disappointing .. . . I have to go now. My planet needs me.

The beer pours a reddish-amber color with a white head. The aroma is basic dunkelweizen with some caramel, toffee, banana and clove notes. The flavor is more of the same with bananas and cloves, as well as some caramel malt, vanilla and brown sugar. Thin to medium mouthfeel, slightly water. Medium carbonation.

Aroma is roasty chocolate. Brown in color. Flavor is sweet, roast,y and wheaty with a little bit of clove and yeast perhaps. It has a lingering sweetness as well. It is definitley better than the Irish Red which it is competing against.

Tallahassee, Fl - Publix Supermarkets - Killearn - 12 oz bottle. Bonus - thought I had already rated this...was just going to do a rerate! Slightly murky dark copper pour, soft off-white head. Aroma of cloves and bubble gum. Solid wheat flavor with a hint of bananas and cloves and a touch of bubble gum. Mouthfeel is sticky and thick.

( 12oz bottle thanks to blutt59) Pours clear yellow/orange and just average lacing. Nose of German wheat, clove. Taste is lightly sour and some chocolate on the finish. Doesn’t remind me of most dunkels at all. Watery body, needs more sweetness and finishes quite dry.

12 oz. bottle w/ Sample B. Pours brown with a small diminishing beige head. The aroma was malty, fruity (dark varieties, bananas), slightly nutty, yeast, and a hint of spice. The flavor has a nice malt rich malt base with the dark fruits, banana, yeast, caramel, and spices coming through as well. Medium bodied and smooth drinking.

Bottle: Pours a dark cloudy brown with an off-white head. The nose is fresh and lively with a bit ester and dark fruit forward nose; hidden caramel and molasses with a nice spicy wheat background. The flavor is chewy with a nice wheat and caramel touch and a raisin and molasses spicy finish. Clean and balanced with a big body and mouthfeel. Nice.
