3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 mellocello (43) - - AUG 24, 2012
Drank from a 12 oz. Bottle. Tastes good. Nice clove flavor.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 TungstenGT (34) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - SEP 13, 2009
I rated this against other Sam Adams beers I have had. I would have to say this is my favorite Sam Adams brew. I wish I could find it in 6 or 12 packs. Has a nice cloudy, deep-orange look with a nice foamy head. Aroma is of banana/clove. I just totally enjoyed this beer and highly recommend this brew, especially if you like Hefes.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 ironprog (33) - - AUG 31, 2012
12 oz. bottle. Appearance is amber-orange and cloudy. Head is minimal to non-existent. Aromas of banana, bubblegum, and a hint of nutmeg. Strong flavors of banana and nutmeg. Medium-body with lively carbonation and a strong, slightly dry, finish.
This is not a favorite of mine. The problem isn’t that the beer doesn’t have any flavor, it’s that it has TOO MUCH flavor. There are so many different flavors in this that it just ends up being a bizarre melange that doesn’t really work well together.
1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 Flamebuster (23) - California, USA - JAN 4, 2010
This is the first "Dunkelweizen" I have had so I am not sure how the beer should or normally does taste, but this isn’t the best Sam I have had. I would agree with most of what the others said about how it pours and looks. I don’t get any nose and little mouth feel. It does have a good dose of CO2 but only a little of the malt I was expecting it to have.
But, again, I don’t know this type of beer so don’t take my rating, try it for yourself.
2.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 dprski33 (22) - California, USA - NOV 13, 2012
Smells like a more interesting/complex hef. Cloudy at the top, but clear at the bottom. A bit bland compared to regular hef. Surprisingly light palate. Nothing really special
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 blakeZero (18) - Fishers, Indiana, USA - OCT 2, 2009
Bottle poured. Hazy orange color with an off-white head. Aroma of hops and citrus. Taste of citrus and bread. Overall, a decent beer, but kind of weak on all fronts.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 johnmeier1 (13) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 20, 2010
The only widely distributed domestic dark wheat beer I can find. Keep them coming Sam (maybe all year round in six-packs?)
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 stitchman (12) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - OCT 21, 2012
Not to knock this particular beer but I don’t think I like this style. Got it in a sampler pack and only drank 1 of 2. Had a sour taste.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Nothing2fancy (3) - USA - JAN 23, 2011 does not count
Dark Brown Color with a nice floral scent. Small head that dissipates quickly. Smooth drinkable beer that is enjoyable when the weather is chilly.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 41Stone (1) - USA - OCT 1, 2010 does not count
Light aroma, nearly non-existent lace and a dark amber color. Tastes wheaty and very watery. Quite a boring brew overall.
