COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dunkelweizen translates into "dark wheat" and the beer is a darker version of the Bavarian wheat beers of the 15th century. Dark amber brown in color, this unfiltered ale is brewed with traditional Bavarian yeast, which imparts a wide spectrum of flavors and aromas from spicy clove and nutmeg to tropical fruit and banana. The result is a beer that is complex and flavorful, medium-bodied with a crisp finish.

Bottle. Pours dark with a healthy head. Aromas just like a wheat beer but it seems a bit ’burnt’. Finishes surprisingly easy.

This was a great beer and tasted just as it should. It has a good wheat flavor, great coloring, and oh so refreshing.

Hazy amber with a small, foamy, off-white head. Aroma: Wheat and clove. Definitely some fruit as well. Flavor was of clove, wheat notes, and perhaps a touch of banana. The palate was a bit thin, but had a decent mouthfeel. Not a bad brew.

Poured from bottle into pint glass. Very carbonated and it had a real spice bite with a light body. Not bad, and good for a light beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle into Sam Adams glass. A: wheaty, with a hint of sweet malt App: light golden-brown hue with creamy colored, 4 finger, frothy head. T: slight malt sweetness with big wheaty taste. Aftertaste of bitter wheat P: smooth with big bubbles. An average U.S. interpretation of a Dunkelweis

The bannana and clove shine through on this beer. A wonderful medly of full bodied flavour. Very smooth as well.

Good pour, solid white head, well carbonated. Taste of clove, orange and banana. Also tastes like a cheap imitation of weihenstephaner. If u want a good bavarian wheat beer get it from worlds oldest brewery. Similar in cost, yet weihenstephaner is superior in taste. Disapointed with many of Sam Adams commercial offerings, this wasn’t an exception.

It’s official! I don’t like sweet beers. This beer is horrid.... I usually like easy tasting wheat beer but this one isn’t good. It also has a cloudy pour and I haven’t had a beer that is cloudy to taste good.

12 oz. bottle. Appearance is amber-orange and cloudy. Head is minimal to non-existent. Aromas of banana, bubblegum, and a hint of nutmeg. Strong flavors of banana and nutmeg. Medium-body with lively carbonation and a strong, slightly dry, finish. This is not a favorite of mine. The problem isn’t that the beer doesn’t have any flavor, it’s that it has TOO MUCH flavor. There are so many different flavors in this that it just ends up being a bizarre melange that doesn’t really work well together.

Drank from a 12 oz. Bottle. Tastes good. Nice clove flavor.
