3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draft at Little Woodrow’s in Midtown Houston. The thing I enjoyed the most was the jasmine aroma and citrus taste, presumably from the hops used. I will admit with some other raters though...as a kolsch, there’s a predisposition towards a light and slick texture to the beer in your mouth, but this was surprisingly wet and almost slimy feeling. Not the best texture for a beer...however, most kolsch type beers tend to provide an noticably bitter finish and buttery taste in the mouth, making them poor choices for sessions unless it’s 100 degrees outside. This had a unique note to the hops and aroma that made it extremely enjoyable.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a very pale golden color with a small head. The aroma is bready and floral with a little bit of bright maltiness. The flavor is very clean and floral with some sweet orange and a mild bitterness. Not something I would drink a lot of, but I wouldn’t turn it down I suppose.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a clear pale golden with a small white, fizzy head. Aroma is weak with hints of grain and spices. Flavor is also rather weak with hints of grain and spices; atypical Kolsch flavors. Thin body and plenty of carbonation. Poor for a Kolsch.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Two bottles of this in a "Summer Flavors" 12-pack Pours a just a wee bit more golden than the typical straw color of a macro. Minimal head that rapidly dissipates. Flowery nose. Tastes is bitterness that overpowers any other flavors. The bitterness lingers. Beer is supposed to be bitter, but not like this. If my screen name wasn’t meant to be ironic, I would drink this abomination all the time.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
12 ounce bottle out of a mixed summer 12 pack purchased at Woodland, CA Nugget. The aroma is sweet and sugary, and not really reminiscent of a kolsch. Lacks any sort of grassiness or mineral or lemon character. Transparent yellow body present with a small to medium white head. Starts a little spicy, before this becomes a bit sweet, and overly cloying. Mouthfeel is too thick for the style. Light herbal hop hints and a touch of grass. Lightly astringent. Lacks hops. This is more of a pale lager than a kolsch.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours pale yellow into a Sam glass. Bright white micro head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Cereal and hay aromas. Dry with sweet grass from front to back. Lasting slightly bitter finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz. bottle. The beer pours golden out of the bottlewith lots of rising bubbles, and a medium creamy white head. I sense a light citrus and floral aroma with some vanilla, light spice, cereal grains. The flavor is mildly crisp, some graininess, light hop impressions. There is a fair amount of citrus and floral notes. Light bodied, effervescent carbonation. Finishes crisp. This is not exactly what I’d call a definitive example of a kolsch, but more importantly it’s a beer I’d consider middling and unspectacular at best.
