4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jsmerig (798) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 6, 2012
Pours a clear golden yellow. Aroma is spicy with a note of ester. Taste is malty with caramel notes. The hops balance the sweetness without actually becoming bitter. Very full body as well. This is a keeper.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 mcdalough (21) - Illinois, USA - MAY 6, 2011
Tasted at home 5-6-2011
Aroma: Wonderfully floral, though it is a bit light.
Appearance: Nice straw color but with minimum head retention.
Taste: Extremely delicate. This was a joy to drink. Very light cereal body without feeling thin or astringent. The jasmine floral note is similar to a clover honey at times without being overly sweet. Surprisingly complex for it’s lightness.
Palate: Tart, slightly biting body from the CO2, not overly full body. This seemed to fit the style well.
Overall: Surprising beer. Complex but delicate. This was a real surprise and a very good beer.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Cletus (6182) - Connecticut, USA - NOV 21, 2011
Pours gold with a white head. Smells lightly floral with a touch of citrus. Tastes of dry pilsner malt, some hay, some grassy undertones and a light, citrussy finish.

Situation: A successful back-to-school night and a welcome back to my sense of smell and taste!
Glassware: Ayinger willibecker...
Appearance: Golden orange effervescence with a thin unbalanced off-white head...
Aroma: Yeast, fruity esters ring in the experience of a hops bouquet--subtle herbs and citrus punch...
Palate: smooth, soft and pleasantly easy drinking--a hops crunch on the teeth is softened but palpable....
Taste: fresh hops and light, soft malts combine to power a beautiful balance...some bread and pear/apple to it too...
Overall: I haven’t bought a case of a single S.A. brew in a while--but in the summer heat we had this year, I could see quenching a thirst with this kolsch nightly....

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 jebert (407) - Watertown, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 16, 2012
Huge foaming white head sits atop bubbling golden liquid. Aroma wafts up to touch the nose and is scented by citrus, hops and flowers. Very creamy on the palate. Taste is light and soft and of bread, yeast, dough with a slight floral bouquet. Very mild, not harsh or bitter. A perfect summer sipping beer.

Went to a friends house this last weekend for a cookout, and he had a mixed pack of SA brews. This one caught my eye as I am a sucker for Kolsch-style beers. 12oz bottle.
Pours a moderately dark sunny gold. A small cap of white foam rests atop. Sweet floral nose - cut flowers, malt, citrus zip. Cool, crisp mouthfeel. Bubbles add a refreshing wash on the palate. The added flower-characteristic to this beer is notable in the flavor. Definitive herbal notes, but they are delicate and add a nice adjustment to the profile. Biscuity malt and a fresh finish of lemon. Mild bitterness make this one an easy beer to down on a warm afternoon. Nice work, BBC.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 redlem (1264) - Ohio, USA - APR 5, 2012
Pour with a very high head, somewhat lumpy. A fresh mowed hay aroma, mellow but nice. Taste is crisp, dry….maybe mildly sweet but only in the residual. There is a wilted bitter green taste that is pleasant. Hop presence is mild and grassy. All told an interesting and drinkable kolsch. Not as good as GI Summertime but close. Sam Adams is really starting to nail these lagers down.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 redlight (2289) - Winter Park, Florida, USA - MAY 20, 2011
draft @ redlight redlight. Honey malts on the nose with hints of spicy hops. Pours golden blonde with a dense white head. Nice and spicy with floral notes with bready malts and a nice citrus flavor as well. Great session beer!
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dragonfly1 (402) - - JUN 2, 2011
Bottle. Sitting in the backyard on a warm Memorial Day... Tall narrow glass, pours moderate yellow, fluffy head and bubbly. Aroma is sweet, soft, lemon. Taste is floral "softness" right away, with a citrus tart balance. Faint bitterness in the finish. Very clean. For such a delicate beer this has a lot of layers and complexity. Small gripe is I think the lemon-y hops could be toned down to allow the floral jasmine to come out more, but that’s nit-picking at best. Enjoyable and a "relaxing" beer.
