COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This rich and luscious brew indulges in flavor with over 28Ibs of pumpkin per barrel, for a full bodied sweetness and deep russet color. Classic pumpkin pie spices of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice ignite a warmth and spark that’s deepened by an undercurrent of roasty smoked malts. The result is a delectable brew full of enveloping layers of flavor and spice. At Samuel Adams we love experimenting. This series of limited edition brews represents some of our favorite small batch creations. Style: Pumpkin Beer Hops: East Kent Goldings, Fuggle Malts: Samuel Adams Two-Row Pale Malt Blend, Caramel 60, Special B, Smoked Malt Extras: Real Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Allspice

Initially released on tap as "Double Pumpkin" in 2011, it was bottled as "Fat Jack Double Pumpkin" in 2012.

A beautiful beer. I love pumpkin beer and this is one of my tops in this style. Lots of real pumpkin flavors and jus the right amount of spice to keep it interesting.

1 PT. 6 FL. OZ. bottle. Clear medium copper, fine tan foam mostly lasts. Malty pumpkin spice aroma. Taste is too rich and sweet c-malt, mild toasted pumpkin, over spiced. ABV is well hidden. Average carbonation, medium bodied, low hopped. Next. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

[Bottle (750ml)] Pours a deep orange-amber with a large lasting fluffy off-white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma of pumpkin, caramel malt, vegetal notes and light spices. Flavour of caramel malt, pumpkin, light spices and some alcohol. Medium bodied. Just good, not great, I would’ve liked more spices, they are too subtle.

Mahogany pour with thin white head. Aroma is a pleasantly subtle pumpkin. Taste is decent pumpkin ale that is a tad heavy on pumpkin spice and a little sweet. Still good, though. Medium body and fairly clean finish. Not my favorite but would get again.

Big head, slowly shrinking. Tempting floral smell. But still - I don’t know about this. All the spices are not very apparent. Doesn’t taste at all like pumpkin pie or pepparkakor but more like a failed german doppelbock with too much alcohol. I hope the guys at Samuel Adams keep on experimenting; this one is not ready.

Bottle: Poured a clear copper color ale with a nice off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of cinnamon and cloves with light cereal notes is OK but subtler then I was expecting. Taste is also dominated by cloves and cinnamon with almost no perceptible pumpkin notes. Body is lighter than expected with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. A lot more tame than I was expecting…

Pours a one finger off-white head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Clear amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Spicy nose and flavor is sweet spices with some pumpkin. Higher ABV is hidden. $7.50 for a 22oz bottle from Chase Street Market Plymouth, NH.

Pours deep amber with one fat finger of light beige head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, moderate lacing (4/5) Nose is nutmeg, pumpkin, toffee, maybe some dark fruit, just a hint of smoke. (7/10) Taste is moderately strong sweet, moderately strong bitter. (7/10) Full body, moderate to low carbonation, somewhat syrupy, mild bitter finish. (4/5) A good way to do pumpkin - a winter warmer style that’s almost barleywine in nature. It’s quite sweet, and I’m not exactly sure why that doesn’t play out as cloying - I guess it’s the heavy spices, lots of pumpkin, and a distinct alcohol warming, built on a thick, syrupy caramel. Subtle? Nope. Does it work? Yep. In fact, given the high ABV, utter absence of hop character, and the explicit suggestion on the bottle, I think I might pick up one or two more for long-term cellaring. (14/20)

Nice reddish brown, very clear, minor off white head that lasts well. Aroma is solid caramel malt, with a little spice. Taste is ok, some sweetness, not a ridiculous amount of spice. Mostly nutmeg. This is actually ok, one of the first pumpkin beers I’ve enjoyed. Feel is very full, sticky and nice.
