This rich and luscious brew indulges in flavor with over 28Ibs of pumpkin per barrel, for a full bodied sweetness and deep russet color. Classic pumpkin pie spices of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice ignite a warmth and spark that’s deepened by an undercurrent of roasty smoked malts. The result is a delectable brew full of enveloping layers of flavor and spice. At Samuel Adams we love experimenting. This series of limited edition brews represents some of our favorite small batch creations. Style: Pumpkin Beer Hops: East Kent Goldings, Fuggle Malts: Samuel Adams Two-Row Pale Malt Blend, Caramel 60, Special B, Smoked Malt Extras: Real Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Allspice

Initially released on tap as "Double Pumpkin" in 2011, it was bottled as "Fat Jack Double Pumpkin" in 2012.

Smells nice, very caramel malty, nutmeg, cinnamon. Hazy ruby color with a long lasting off-white head. Tastes good but slightly sweet and cloying. Upfront malty sweetness, almost a candi-sugar like flavor, middle is filled with a number of pumpkin pie spices and sweet with an earthy hoppyness. Medium body and carbonation. Alright pumpkin beer.

@ Nedre Mölla 20/10-14. Aroma: Christmas spices (cinnamon, ginger, allspice, clove), caramel. Taste: Dito + sweet, notes of licorice. Body is medium, the finish is sweet, caramely and spicey (see aroma).

Rich deep muddied brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head, about a centimetre thick. Aroma of pumpkins, squash, brown sugar, earth and quite a bit of alcohol - nice and deep. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich squash and pumpkin flavour with some deep browned sugars, caramel and pit fruits noticeable. A bit of a perceived alcohol hit coupled with some yeast notes as well make for this to be well-rounded. Aftertaste is subtle yet very full-flavoured and long lasting, due to the rich squash in the mash. Overall, a very nice pumpkin-based beer with bunches of spices, yet the sweetness and rich maltiness lead this one to be a great beer. I sampled this sam adams-styled 65 cL bottle purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City) on 05-October-2014 for US$5,49 sampled at home in Washington a few steps away on 19-October-2014.

Bottle. Medium carbonation. Rich, dark brown, slightly reddish color. Delicious, sweet, spicy mouth feel. Can still taste the basic template of hops and caramel common to all Sam Adams beers, with the addition of pumpkin and spices. Would have been my top-rated pumpkin beer/ale, if not for Pumking, which still reigns as the top pumpkin beer/ale, if not one of the best tasting overall beers of any type.

Wittales (637) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 18, 2014
Appearance was clear reddish brown with creamy lasting 1 finger head, rings of lacing. Aromas are holiday spices with touches of roast, brown sugar, no alcohol. Taste are sweet malts and spices upfront with hint of roasty barley and clean yeast profile. Palate was soft creamy CO2 with medium body, then smooth spicy malty finish. Overall good pumpkin brew, smooth.

Deep amber pour. Aromas of sweet caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger. Really sweet with lots of pumpkin spice. Minor vegetal notes. Too sweet and too much spice for my liking.

Not a huge fan of pumpkin ales but tis the season and this double pumpkin ale is exceptional! big on pumpkin spice from the get go. mellow flavor throughout but still pronounced. has a shade of earthiness if you will, but still a straight shooter with its character. thicker than your average ale, yet still can’t touch a stout in that department. smooth finish, not boozy at all. Currently holding on to a few for next year. lets see how graceful time can be to this fat Jack!

Pours a dark amber color with a tan head. Aroma is of pumpkin, caramel malts, and some spices. Flavor is mostly just the pumpkin and caramel malts. Not very much warming on the finish. I’ve had much better pumpkin ales.
