This rich and luscious brew indulges in flavor with over 28Ibs of pumpkin per barrel, for a full bodied sweetness and deep russet color. Classic pumpkin pie spices of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice ignite a warmth and spark that’s deepened by an undercurrent of roasty smoked malts. The result is a delectable brew full of enveloping layers of flavor and spice. At Samuel Adams we love experimenting. This series of limited edition brews represents some of our favorite small batch creations. Style: Pumpkin Beer Hops: East Kent Goldings, Fuggle Malts: Samuel Adams Two-Row Pale Malt Blend, Caramel 60, Special B, Smoked Malt Extras: Real Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Allspice

Initially released on tap as "Double Pumpkin" in 2011, it was bottled as "Fat Jack Double Pumpkin" in 2012.

Bottle, sold as Double Jack. Pours a deep amber with thin quickly settling off white head, minimal lacing. Aroma is is pumpkin, all spice, nutmeg, and sweet, quite inviting. Flavor is moderate pumpkin, sweet, with a pleasant spice finish. Mellow pumpkin pie, very enjoyable. Moderate carbonation, medium light body, and mildly crisp texture. A very enjoyable pumpkin ale, intense, juicy, spicy and satisfying.

My 22 oz. bottle from Batch No. 2 smells strongly of pumpkin, ginger, and caramel malts and pours a clear burnt orange color with a large off-white head. The taste is mildly sour, slightly sweet, and slightly umami, which is a very nice blend of flavors, and the mouthfeel combines a medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture, and a spice-filled finish with just a little too much ginger in it.

Bomber at bottle shop with Patrick. Aroma is airy light pumpkin. Taste is red ale pumpkin gourd malt. Finish is medium quick. Okay, wouldn't buy another bottle, maybe draft.

ahh yes, the annual pumpkin onslaught continues with this brew. mahogany hue capped by a quick foam head that reduces into some lacing. nose has some quick spice. taste is quick sweetness mulled over by cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice that lingers past finish. body is light and a bit of a bummer.

Bomber from BevMo. Deep ruby in color. Nose is spiced with the typical seasonal spices. Flavor is somewhat sweet. A bit of nutmeg, well quite a bit. Taste is pretty much on par with other beers of this sort. A little boozier than most.

Bottle. 7/25/13. Pours a deep and cloudy red-brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma is cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, all-spice, banana, vanilla, molasses. Taste is surprisingly aggressive, strong, bitter; pumpkin, alcohol, some berries, strong bitterness (pumpkin rind?), hint of smoke, cinnamon, nutmeg; finish is a lingering fruit peel bitterness. Some nice lacing. Medium carbonation; full, chewy mouth feel. There’s a lot of bitterness here that I haven’t found in other pumpkin beers. I don’t particularly enjoy it here. Definitely loses some taste points for that. Great aroma, really nice appearance. Certainly not terrible but also not fantastic.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2013 Fat Jack pours mahogany brown and gives off a nice red hue when held up to the light. Two fingers of biscuit colored head gives off an impressive aroma of nutmeg, malt, and the advertised big orange gourd. The first sip reveals an intense bright creamy body followed by an enjoyable warming effect. Big flavor with notes of fall spices, fruit, caramel, and lots of pumpkin. The finish has mild floral notes with a dominant pumpkin end. If its pumpkin you want, its pumpkin you get with this brew.

Pours dirty, reddish brown.with an off white head. Smell is nutmeg, cinnamon, and pumpkin. Taste is sweet nutmeg, hint of vanilla and cinnamon with a big pumpkin taste in the end with a big malty body and medium carbonation. Would be better with the sweetness toned down and not letting the nutmeg over power. Overall a good outing for Sam Adams.

Bright ruby copper in color. Spicy pumpkin aroma. Fall spice flavors, nutmeg, cinnamon & clove followed by more pumpkin notes and a touch of alcohol warmth. Overall, a good solid fall brew...
