COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This rich and luscious brew indulges in flavor with over 28Ibs of pumpkin per barrel, for a full bodied sweetness and deep russet color. Classic pumpkin pie spices of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice ignite a warmth and spark thatís deepened by an undercurrent of roasty smoked malts. The result is a delectable brew full of enveloping layers of flavor and spice. At Samuel Adams we love experimenting. This series of limited edition brews represents some of our favorite small batch creations. Style: Pumpkin Beer Hops: East Kent Goldings, Fuggle Malts: Samuel Adams Two-Row Pale Malt Blend, Caramel 60, Special B, Smoked Malt Extras: Real Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Allspice

Initially released on tap as "Double Pumpkin" in 2011, it was bottled as "Fat Jack Double Pumpkin" in 2012.

Aroma has decided pumpkin and cinnamon notes, plus hints of malt and cloves. It pours a clear mahogany with a fairly thick light, slightly pumpkin-orange head that leaves good lacing. Satisfying flavor has a malty core with a noticeable but not overpowering pumpkin tone, as well as notes of cinnamon, horehound and cloves and a touch of caramel. Smooth texture has good body though not a lot of fizz. Happy Autumnal Equinox! (In the northern hemisphere, anyway.)

Delicious spiced beer that I really enjoyed. One of the better (and stronger) examples of the style Iíve had this season.

Dark amber pour with a tan head. Aroma is spices, sweet malt and faint pumpkin. Taste is spicey, light pumpkin and dry at the end. The ginger comes out at the end. Nice lacing.

Brown-amber-copper in color with a nice sudsy, lacey off-white head. Sweet dubel-like aroma spike with slight spiced pumpkin bready aroma. A rich pumkiny, bready chewy thick beer with some spiced tone and a bit of alcohol in the finish.

22 oz bottle. Pours ruby amber with a medium creamy off white head that goes to a thin film and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet, slightly vegetal, malts with a lot of spicy cinnamon and some ginger.

The flavor is sweet caramel malts with some roast and a little dark fruit. Itís followed by a ton of heavy spice - mostly cinnamon with some ginger. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a decent pumpkin beer. Itís overly spiced with too much cinnamon. But the base is kind of a winter warmer old ale with some light roast and dark fruit that is kind of cool and plays well with the pumpkin.

Batch #1 bottle.

A: Fat Jack pours a very clear mahogany body thatís rather placid. A creamy, but somewhat thin tan head sits on top with decent retention.

S: The aroma is rather balanced with cinnamon coming through the strongest, but hints of pumpkin, ginger, and a mild smoked flavor. I applaud Sam Adamís for not overspicing this, heck the nutmeg and allspice donít even come through in the nose.

T: A sweet intro of pumpkin pie flavors starts the beer off and carries through to the finish. The beer is balanced well with pumpkin, allspice, nutmeg, ginger, and cinnamon flavors intertwined nicely. I am picking up a little bit of smoke on the finish, but without reading the description I might have missed it, itís very subtle.

M: Medium bodied with light carbonation.

O: This is a very solid pumpkin beer that falls just short of Pumpking, which I hold to be the quintessential pumpkin beer. This beer is a very easily available imperial pumpkin that is done right, it leans sweet but is easily drinkable.

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2012 Pours a russet brown with an off white head and plenty of lacing. Smelt very nice, other than that nothing to write home about. A decent hearty beer with a surprising lack of pumpkin taste.

Pours deep mahogany into a Sam glass. Tan pancake head turns creamy as it recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet ginger and pumpkin aromas. Creamy with sweet dark caramel and pumpkin upfront turning to pie spices in the lasting earthy finish.

On tap at the Lucky Monk brewpub, pours a dark brown with a thin head, the aroma was of spices and malt, spices pretty much overtook this one for me, the flavor was way too spiced on the front end and wasnít balanced enough in the finish with the sweetness of caramel or malt, not for me.
