This rich and luscious brew indulges in flavor with over 28Ibs of pumpkin per barrel, for a full bodied sweetness and deep russet color. Classic pumpkin pie spices of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice ignite a warmth and spark that’s deepened by an undercurrent of roasty smoked malts. The result is a delectable brew full of enveloping layers of flavor and spice. At Samuel Adams we love experimenting. This series of limited edition brews represents some of our favorite small batch creations. Style: Pumpkin Beer Hops: East Kent Goldings, Fuggle Malts: Samuel Adams Two-Row Pale Malt Blend, Caramel 60, Special B, Smoked Malt Extras: Real Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Allspice

Initially released on tap as "Double Pumpkin" in 2011, it was bottled as "Fat Jack Double Pumpkin" in 2012.

Growler pour. Appears in the glass as a deep amber with decent head. Smell is heavy pie spice (nutmeg, cinnamon) with pumpkin. Tast is initiailly quite sweet but is rounded out by the fullness of the pumpkin and spices. Lingers a bit spicy. Not as full as some other heavy as some other sweet pumpking beers which is why I thought this was quite nice.

Rated from notes taken 13 Sep 2012 -- A decent offering from Sam Adams. Although I would just stick with Merry Maker, it is way better.

22 oz. bottle; batch #2. Appearance: 2 finger light orange brown head, frothy, copper amber color, clear, good lacing. Aroma: light roast, nutmeg, pumpkin, malty caramel, other spices. Palate: medium body, bitter finish, soft carbonation, slick texture. Taste: sweet malt and pumpkin pie, with spices and bitterness coming through in the middle; hoppy bitterness lasts and tingle of spices fades out. Overall, very smooth beer, unique even among pumkin beers, and great fall beer.

(Bottle). Scent of malt, fruit, grassy hops, pumpkin and alcohol. Sweet taste of malt, brown sugar, alcohol and pumpkin? Not a very good beer but not disgusting either!

Not as good as I hoped. Mild pumpkin and spice aroma. The color was of pumpkin or sweet potato. Medium body with below average carbonation. Flavors were pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon and malt . This was not as sweet as described and rested on a large amount of pumpkin. Decent but probably a one and done beer.

Pours a very dark amber color with off-white head. Pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves on the nose; follows onto the palate. This is like drinking a piece of pumpkin pie.

Flaske 0,65l fra Systembolaget Luleå, Storheden. Delt med flere under treff på Nerstranda 9 Apr 14. Mørk amber. Litt farge på skummet. Krydderaroma. Kardemomme. Smaken er pepperkaker. Blir litt tørr. Antakeligvis et halloweenøl - men denne hadde vært et fantastisk juleøl.

650ml bottle kindly shared by Finn. The pour reveals a decent fawn-coloured head resting on top of a deep, mahogany coloured body. Satisfying glass-lacing. Good looking, indeed! Rather perfumed like smell of caramel malts and pumpkin. Flavoured with a quite nice blend of citrus shells, pumpkin and dark malts as well as mild dark spices. More sweet than bitter to the ending. Fine bodied. Nice sipper (Tromsø 09.04.2014).

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a dark brown/black colored body and left a one finger white foamy head that lasted less than twenty seconds. The body was too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. Some nice light yet filmy/foamy lacing appeared but settled and slid down the sides of the glass. The smell was superb as not just pumpkin, but allspice, ginger, clove, some slight molasses and cinnamon speckled themselves throughout the entire "pumpkin" aroma. Big wow (at least to me). The taste had all of these typical flavorings and added a slight caramel flavoring, a bit of malt and some extra rich dark fruitiness to it. The palate sat about a medium with nothing harsh on the tongue. This wasn’t exactly a very drinkable beer, could be close to a palate wrecker with all that was going on with it. It has a sweet dry finish. Overall, though not very drinkable, I really liked this, probably would have been better if I saved this just a tad longer. This is a very good "pumpkin" ale.
