The pumpkin and spices are on the mild side, but the end result is a good tasting beer. Notes of caramel, toffee, raisin and light smoke on top of the mild pumpkin pie flavor. Smooth 8.5%. Very natural tasting. Iíd like it better if the pumpkin and spices were a little bit stronger. The smoked malt was a nice surprise.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rich deep muddied brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head, about a centimetre thick. Aroma of pumpkins, squash, brown sugar, earth and quite a bit of alcohol - nice and deep. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich squash and pumpkin flavour with some deep browned sugars, caramel and pit fruits noticeable. A bit of a perceived alcohol hit coupled with some yeast notes as well make for this to be well-rounded. Aftertaste is subtle yet very full-flavoured and long lasting, due to the rich squash in the mash. Overall, a very nice pumpkin-based beer with bunches of spices, yet the sweetness and rich maltiness lead this one to be a great beer. I sampled this sam adams-styled 65 cL bottle purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City) on 05-October-2014 for US$5,49 sampled at home in Washington a few steps away on 19-October-2014.

Bottle. Medium carbonation. Rich, dark brown, slightly reddish color. Delicious, sweet, spicy mouth feel. Can still taste the basic template of hops and caramel common to all Sam Adams beers, with the addition of pumpkin and spices. Would have been my top-rated pumpkin beer/ale, if not for Pumking, which still reigns as the top pumpkin beer/ale, if not one of the best tasting overall beers of any type.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance was clear reddish brown with creamy lasting 1 finger head, rings of lacing. Aromas are holiday spices with touches of roast, brown sugar, no alcohol. Taste are sweet malts and spices upfront with hint of roasty barley and clean yeast profile. Palate was soft creamy CO2 with medium body, then smooth spicy malty finish. Overall good pumpkin brew, smooth.

Deep amber pour. Aromas of sweet caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger. Really sweet with lots of pumpkin spice. Minor vegetal notes. Too sweet and too much spice for my liking.

Not a huge fan of pumpkin ales but tis the season and this double pumpkin ale is exceptional! big on pumpkin spice from the get go. mellow flavor throughout but still pronounced. has a shade of earthiness if you will, but still a straight shooter with its character. thicker than your average ale, yet still canít touch a stout in that department. smooth finish, not boozy at all. Currently holding on to a few for next year. lets see how graceful time can be to this fat Jack!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark amber color with a tan head. Aroma is of pumpkin, caramel malts, and some spices. Flavor is mostly just the pumpkin and caramel malts. Not very much warming on the finish. Iíve had much better pumpkin ales.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber into a crystal wine glass. Great amber color with a medium creamy head. The aroma is full of pumpkin, allspice, nutmeg and light cinnamon. The mouthfeel is rich, creamy, effervescent and grippy. However, the flavor is seriously lacking and muted. All fluff and no follow through. Disappointing

Bomber into tulip glass, clear deep ruby amber with minimal light tan head. Aroma of pumpkin, pie spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice) and caramel malt. Taste adds notes of light chocolate, graham cracker, ginger, faint salt, molasses and some fruity/earthy hop bitterness. Heavy body, low carbonation, sticky with roasty pie spices lingering on the finish. Itís a heavy pumpkin ale, tasty for the cool weather coming.
