3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark copper with a thick, beige head. Good lacing. Aromas are dried fruit, pumpkin spice, and brown sugar. Flavors are brown sugar up front with pumpkin spice and caramel. Finishes with raisin and a hint of candied citrus. It’s peppery, which gives it a fairly light mouthfeel, but there’s also a sweetness that remains after the finish. Very smooth and malty. I was expecting to be hit over the head with pumpkin flavor, but the pumpkin, while definitely present, is more subdued that I expected. Very nice beer.

A beautiful beer. I love pumpkin beer and this is one of my tops in this style. Lots of real pumpkin flavors and jus the right amount of spice to keep it interesting.

1 PT. 6 FL. OZ. bottle. Clear medium copper, fine tan foam mostly lasts. Malty pumpkin spice aroma. Taste is too rich and sweet c-malt, mild toasted pumpkin, over spiced. ABV is well hidden. Average carbonation, medium bodied, low hopped. Next. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
[Bottle (750ml)] Pours a deep orange-amber with a large lasting fluffy off-white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma of pumpkin, caramel malt, vegetal notes and light spices. Flavour of caramel malt, pumpkin, light spices and some alcohol. Medium bodied. Just good, not great, I would’ve liked more spices, they are too subtle.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Mahogany pour with thin white head. Aroma is a pleasantly subtle pumpkin. Taste is decent pumpkin ale that is a tad heavy on pumpkin spice and a little sweet. Still good, though. Medium body and fairly clean finish. Not my favorite but would get again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Big head, slowly shrinking. Tempting floral smell. But still - I don’t know about this. All the spices are not very apparent. Doesn’t taste at all like pumpkin pie or pepparkakor but more like a failed german doppelbock with too much alcohol. I hope the guys at Samuel Adams keep on experimenting; this one is not ready.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle: Poured a clear copper color ale with a nice off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of cinnamon and cloves with light cereal notes is OK but subtler then I was expecting. Taste is also dominated by cloves and cinnamon with almost no perceptible pumpkin notes. Body is lighter than expected with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. A lot more tame than I was expecting…

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours deep amber with one fat finger of light beige head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, moderate lacing (4/5) Nose is nutmeg, pumpkin, toffee, maybe some dark fruit, just a hint of smoke. (7/10) Taste is moderately strong sweet, moderately strong bitter. (7/10) Full body, moderate to low carbonation, somewhat syrupy, mild bitter finish. (4/5)
A good way to do pumpkin - a winter warmer style that’s almost barleywine in nature. It’s quite sweet, and I’m not exactly sure why that doesn’t play out as cloying - I guess it’s the heavy spices, lots of pumpkin, and a distinct alcohol warming, built on a thick, syrupy caramel. Subtle? Nope. Does it work? Yep. In fact, given the high ABV, utter absence of hop character, and the explicit suggestion on the bottle, I think I might pick up one or two more for long-term cellaring. (14/20)

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nice reddish brown, very clear, minor off white head that lasts well. Aroma is solid caramel malt, with a little spice. Taste is ok, some sweetness, not a ridiculous amount of spice. Mostly nutmeg. This is actually ok, one of the first pumpkin beers I’ve enjoyed. Feel is very full, sticky and nice.
