4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Picked up a single 22 oz bomber from Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, MN. Pours a clear dark brownish copper with a thick creamy off-white head that has some excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, a hint of nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice and ginger. Taste is full bodied, malty with more pumpkin and caramel malt than aroma, a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. Finish is semi-sweet, thick texture with a mild spice and pumpkin aftertaste. Definitely a hearty sandwich and a pumpkin pie meal in a bottle.

Draft sample at Fishale. Light aroma of caramel and vanilla. Flavor is very spicy and finishes with lingering cinnamon. Okay but the pumpkin is buried deep.

Lots of spice. Some vegetal and malt aroma. Opaque red brown with a thick light tan head that lingers leaving a good amount of lacing. Glassy smooth. Sweet. Lots of pumpkin lots of spice. Very well balanced. I like it. Just a hint of esters on the finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear copper-amber with a light taupe foamy head. Smells like the inside of a hulled jackolantern that has candle char. Moderately thick, pleasant mouthfeel. Pumpkin pie, cardamom, and a bit of char smoke. Horehound hard candy as well.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a 22 oz bomber bottle into a pint glass.
Aroma- I can easily note spices from the first removal of the bottle top. Definite pumpkin and cinnamon aroma, very inviting.
Appearance- A very nice clear red color.
Taste - Excellent flavor, one of my favorite pumpkin beers. You can taste the pumpkin and cinnamon but you know it is still a well crafted brew beneath the surface,.
Palate- A full bodied experience with a strong booze finish. A great dry finish.
Overall- One of my favorite pumpkins to date. Highly recommended.

January 29th, 2013 - Iím loving the Sam Adams experimental series. Compared to their main lines of beer, it feels like they leave out a sack or two of refined sugar, and bring in some of the craft that their brewers trained so hard to hone. As for their Pumpkin Ale, itís not much of a pumpkin beer, but it is a pretty tasty autumn brew. Ruby red in color, it invokes the violent scarlet strands that wrap the Rock Mountains in September, and the smell is rich in caramel and toffee, with touches of bubble gum, coconut, pepper and pear - a mixture of flavors that reminds me of some older, continental recipes, where savory and sweet is mixed to good effect. The taste is more decidedly sweet, with the taste of warmed honey, peaches and smoke, all on a soft, fuzzy palate, plenty of brown sugar and molasses. There may be a bit of pumpkin pie in here, but thatís searching for a flavor that hasnít found me. Still, this will ring in the season nicely, pumpkin or not.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Copper to chestnut pour with a tall, fluffy beige head. Aroma is full of caramel and lactose sweetness up front, then light nutty notes, pie spice and sweet pumpkin. Flavor is earthy pumpkin, ginger heavy pie spice, dark caramel, lactose, light roast, light nutty notes and citrus, herbal and pine hops. Medium body, chewy feel throughout and a medium, sharp carbonation.

Draft at Moriartys. Very dark clear copper pour with some nice tan foam. Well balanced but unexciting Pumpkin Beer. Does not quite taste like pumpkin but thankfully feels like more than just Pumpkin Pie Spice. There are a few acetic notes in the mix here but that may likely be an issue with the keg/pour. A nice safe pumpkin beer for the unadventurous.
